The New Maserati Quattroporte vs. Jaguar XJL

BTW - did you notice the tester praising the RIDE of the XJL over the Maserati? Wonder how much the 2013 model modifications to the dampers and springs have to do with that?
With my Evo V12 tire sidewalls finally broken in, there is a very noticeable improvement in the highway ride of my XJL. Not quite "like a proper limousine" as the video claims but, I can live with it, just fine. Now, certainly on-par with my XK.

I sure did...and figure his reference to limousine ride quality is very subjective at a minimum, and more likely requires a wholesale "willing suspension of disbelief" as it couldn't possibly be fully reconciled with '13 changes. The take-away might better be that he thought it had a nice ride quality!

Video: Lamborghini Aventador vs Toyota Supra
Here is an other video that you will get a kick out of. An Aventador vs. a Supra. Now, there is no way to tell how the Aventador was driven. For all I know that guy may have been shifting at 3500, like most of the many Lambo owners I knew from my decade of Lambo ownership tended to do. They had no concepts for dyno sheets and the power curve.
But, the speed difference how the Supra pulls on the Lambo is very significant, indicating some serious power advantage. Let's see if the Lambo had 700 HP, the Supra had to have at least 900HP to pull like that. Wouldn't you think? That would be within the capability of a boosted Supra setup.
Edit: you can actually catch a glimpse of the tachometer on the Lambo at around 6500, going higher. So, it was trying...

Albert,
I drove a Supra in prep for the One Lap of America a few years ago with 700 hp that was fast beyond belief. Boost hit so hard that the gas pedal felt like an on and off switch, and it was difficult not to spin the rears through 4th at any rpm above the boost threshold. First track was Watkin's Glen and the car was sideways coming off many corners with opposite lock..couldn't help it. We dialed it back to low 500's because one set of tires had to last the various track events. It finished 4th and 6th over two years. And 700 hp is nothing with today's Supra builds. That car in the video could easily have 1200-1500 hp on a 3.4L stroker running methanol or E85 that they're using now. Not many cars can hang with that kind of stupid
Kind of like your RX7 in the twisties I'm guessing!

That Maserati is a fine looking car, but is made in penny packets, so I don't think I have ever seen one around here, and all the footballers live near here. Maybe they all go for Ferraris, or even Jaguars !
I looked at pricing, and the price range starts much higher than the XJ, but top-end is about the same. I would think service back-up is minimal, at least here in the UK, there can't be more than about 10 dealers, and certainly few independents.
