Default New XJ L owner

My wife and I came across a 2014 XJ a couple days ago while were out just test driving vehicles we thought were different. We came across this particular car as we were leaving the last lot to head home. It was the last car closest to the exit and we both caught it and new it was different. We had no intentions of buying a car but knew as soon as we took it for a drive that we were taking it home. It's a 2014 XJ L Supercharged edition. Black on black with the white stitching. Everything work flawlessly. It had 28,xxx miles when we left the dealership That evening. We promptly took it on a couple hundred mile, each way, road trip to a casino that is a couple miles from us. We love the car. Awesome power for a car of the size. The comfort is unmatched. This is the first Jaguar we've owned and probably the first car of this caliber. We DID purchase an expensive after market warranty that is SUPPOSED to cover just about anything that breaks. We shall see.

I do have a question. Is there anything preventive that I should do? Anything I should expect?

It won't be a daily driver but I'm sure my wife will drive it frequently, at least at first. WOW!!! What a car.

I'd love to see some pictures (inside and out). That's fantastic. Recurring themes I've noticed are the water-pump on these cars. Definitely keep an eye on that. Mine (along with others on this forums) has crapped out.

Welcome to the forums!

Thanks. I love the car. It’s amazing. I may opt to go ahead and change the water pump ahead of time and avoid the issue. I’ll upload the exterior pictures that I have. I’ll get some interior pictures tomorrow.

You know what's really crazy is - my heart STILL skips a beat every time I see this car, whether it be my own or someone else's on the road and although I admit mine has given me tremendous headaches thus far with repairs, I am still insanely in love with it. It's just such a gorgeously designed vehicle. Not often car manufacturers get this right.

Be sure and check with the dealer as I had my water pump changed before 28K miles on my 2014 XJR.
It might have been changed already?
As was posted above the water pump is a real common failure as is some of the plastic cooling items.

Also, if the water pump needs to be changed also change the associated plastic tubing as in the earlier XJs it can become brittle and fail.

Your story is similar to mine -- I had my mind made up to get a M-B 550 or Audi A-8 but this one (2015 XJ) beat them in all categories. I have only made 14 short trips with it (haven't even gone over 45 MPH!) due to the Coronavirus. I haven't felt so good about a car since I got my 1992 Cadillac Deville!
