No HUD on Jaguar XJ, seriously!

Yes that would be odd. I can understand it not being used in the f type as the instrument cluster is pretty much directly in front of your snout with the digital speedo at the top, but that is not the case in the XJ. I have driven the XJR on a track a few times now and I've never known exactly how fast I was going because I couldnt look down.
We have the HUD in my wife's XE. It is pretty useful in that car, where the digital speedo is at the bottom. It is also handy for directions with the sat nav.

Honestly, when I drove my XJL loaner for 2 weeks I didn't even miss it. Maybe it's because I'm short, but it wasn't hard for me to see what I needed to without excessive looking away from the road. Also, for the navigation, I accidentally discovered you can take over part or all of your screen with the nav as well (speed and all on top of it of course). I like the HUD in my husband's car, but I never even thought about needing or wanting it in the XJL I was in. I guess maybe to me, I think of HUD as more for sports/sporty cars than luxury? I'm weird though and know not everyone thinks like I do.

Chris, I see you have a 2010 with the awful resistive touch screen. You can easily upgrade it to the much better capacitive screen from the 2013 models for the cost of a used screen. It is literally a 30 minute swap if you've not done one before, and 10 mins if you have, but will change your driving experience from frustration to enjoyment. If you want to upgrade it see the link in my signature for a thread on these forums discussing how to do so.

I am not - yet - prepared to pay thousands (or whatever the OEM charges) and finding a guaranteed working 2013 dual view is not as easy as it sounds (at least not when your eBay skills are as weak as mine!).
-- if you know a source for the CW variant with dual view for £200 or less, I'll snap your hand off!

There was one for sale earlier this week with a 'buy it now' of £150, UK breaker, but it was single view and it has sold now or at least the listing has expired if not. I will keep an eye out though - I have a watch list set up for them, and there will be another along at some point.
