hey Mansfield
thank you for sharing all of that info
sorry for your loss
glad you’re loving driving it
how did you fix all of the curb rash?
or did you just buy four new Farallons?
how many miles have you racked up?
yes they are indescribably rare
the best of all worlds
a fun F-Type R owner last year didn’t even know that they put that same engine in the biggest model he was like “what is that?!” after he tried to dust me a few times & I kept pulling up right next to him
I drive over 20,000 a year & I see many many nice vehicles in Northern California & I spot a decent amount of Jaguars & I probably encounter one X351 a month HOWEVER haven’t come across a single XJR L / XJR

I got it with 69,XXX in June of 2023. It spent 2 months getting the body and wheels sorted (drivers fender had to be replaced), and then I spent a month of weekends doing new headlight housings and new HIDs with a diff service, engine service and new brakes and tires on all 4 corners. Also had to fix some interior things like the rear passenger fold down mirrors ; one had a broke hinge and a door panel clip failed at some point.
She’s got just under 80k now.
I’m bothered by all the Range Rovers in my area having big 6 piston Brembo calipers and this XJR not - so I’m starting my research on how to make them fit.

I took a photo after giving her a bath today and realized something. I hope I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure I’m not.
My dad wrecked the car when he first got it. I guess the body shop replaced the front bumper with a non-R bumper not knowing any better. Confirmed by the book he got with the car.
There’s no front splitter. Great…

so the “factory” splitter is an add on? Not molded into the pumper?
Mina Gallery makes a Speed Pack/XJR style front splitter if you want to add one. I’m pretty sure it will be difficult to locate an oem one. My 2013 XJ SuperSport came with the Speed Pack option and has the factory splitter and I really like the way the front bumper looks with it.

Yes, it is an add on and not molded into the bumper. These pics are my factory splitter on my XJ SuperSport with the Speed pack which is the same as the one installed on the XJR. I have not personally seen the Mina Gallery version to attest to the fitment and quality but most of their stuff is excellent. I have their exhaust on my XFR and it is definitely nice.

hey Mansfield!!!
1. your car looks FANTASTIC after that thorough wash
2. I hadn’t yet recognized the bumper so I’m slightly disappointed in myself LOL
3. I hate to confirm your initial thought but the R bumper is indeed specifically produced as an R bumper it is not an add on you can clearly see it in pictures of my car or pictures of the one from Ride Along 2 or from any Google Image Search so yeah people can add on similar pieces to replicate it but you can see that the true R bumper is a full bumper from the factory with unique lines & depths & angles that span the entire width across
4. maybe you can discuss this with the shop who did the replacement years ago & get some sort of discount? worth asking LOL
5. even if you cannot or do not fix it it’s still a great looking ride & most people won’t have the slightest clue that something is a little off

Yes, after doing more research than I care to openly admit, I find myself rather disappointed. I don’t know what shop it went to and his house and those kinds of things are lost with him. These bumpers are harder
to find than hens teeth. Maybe I’ll get lucky and run across a rear-end wrecked XJR at copart or something and can win a “parts car” relatively cheap. For now, I’ll let it mentally bother me as there’s not much else I can do and I’m not a huge fan of the aftermarket options out there.
Unfortunately, my OCD runs deep so when I say I’ll let
it mentally bother me…that means it’ll be in my head every day. LOL

I am a little confused about your level of disappointment. You have the correct XJR bumper, it is not the standard XJ front bumper. You are simply missing the factory add on lower aero splitter which, if found or purchased can be painted and added to your existing XJR bumper. If it were a standard XJ bumper that would be a different story as the bumper you have is rare and hard to source. There was a complete red XJR front bumper/grill along with the splitter plus the hood from a 45k mile Florida flood car I considered buying last year on EBay and it was around $3k if I remember correctly. I bought the front fender off that car for my car from the dismantler in central California that bought the car on Copart the prior year.
There is no need to source a complete bumper to get that lower splitter. It is the same piece as the one offered the years before as part of the sport and speed pack that was standard on the SuperSport like mine and an option on most other XJ models. If you cannot find that factory piece I would buy the Mina Gallery one which is only different in that it has a carbon fiber center piece which you could paint body color when you paint the rest of it to match your car. Mina Gallery sells quality parts. Again you have the correct XJR front bumper. Good luck

It looks like you can easily add the front splitter as Jaguar does offer it all in parts?
What I think happened was they replaced the bumper cover and forgot or neglected to swap the splitter over but maybe it was damaged in the wreck too?
This is AGAIN from the wonderful JPART and clearly shows the XJR front splitter. Do note that Jaguar does everything by the last six digits of your VIN (You did not post that?).
So you could add it pretty easy I think?
Can you DIY this? With the VIN I can get part numbers.

Every US Jaguar place I searched with my vin never shows the splitter as part of the bumper, not anything by that direct name. I was finding conflicting information as whether it was molded or an add on. Maybe it’s these “bumper trim” and “deflector”. I’ll search around this JPART.

Jagggg XJ Supersport - SWB
November 2022, the day I flew 900 miles away from my home and collected my 2012 XJ Supersport SWB from the dealership - with a nearly bumper to bumper 6 year warranty. Sort of surreal considering what position i had been in financially just one year prior. Also, new here. Hello everyone!
