@RegentV12 - you're right probly - photography is not my thing - I just don't have an eye or the patience for it. If you're ever in houston and want to help with some pics I would appreciate it! Ha!

@ExpatJag i thought about white calipers with black letters but then again that is the dirtiest part of the car - so hoping to get the black done. Will post pics once done!

@Jagguy7 you know Houtexjag is right - hence I'm going for the aftermarket strip

@Dochands - if you do make it down just PM me and we can get in contact and I would be glad to refer you to the place I used. You wouldn't have to go through dealer here and would save you some $$

@MiaXFSc thanks! I will look it up Also I have bought the wheel sprays to make sure the breakdust falls off - still need to apply it - been lazy

@HouTexJag absolutely right - I would definitely not do it on a darker car - only white or silver. I tried to copy Ian C's anniversary edition.

XJSS;

It got hot in New Mexico too.....back when I had the 16-Valve about the same age as you and caught the same kind of flack.

Funny how many people hate success if it isn't theirs....

You have already beaten one of the big heat issues with a white car....mine was black, the only color they had.

Care to venture a guess what the difference is between the surface temperature on a hot day is between a white car and a black car when you put your hand on it?

110 degrees!!

That means that you add 110 degrees to what ever the air temperature is.

Yep....saw that in an Airplane magazine, after I got the Black 16-Valve.....

You can burn your hand trying to keep it on a black car on a sunny day.....no problem for a white car.

Your bigger problem in Houston is heat with humidity.....so good thing a white car gives your air conditioning a huge break in relative temperature sinks over a black car.

Have fun, that's the best way to spite those jealous folks.

cheers,

jamjax

XJSS your car is stunning. Thank god I have a black one because if it was white or a lighter color I'd be spending a pretty penny trying to make it look like yours!

@jamjax that temp difference is crazy, did not know that. I've never owned a black car. I think I'm going to go ahead and stick with he tint. Going to start looking into the other things this week. Thanks for the positive comments.

@jffcurt I don't c too many black one's but Shen I do they're stunning. The chrome on the black one's look so much nicer than they did on my white one!

SS;

That was the only black car I ever had.

Counter intuitively black cars show every spec of dirt or dust....white on the other hand surprisingly hides a lot of dirt.

What is this stuff/product you are taking about?

"Also I have bought the wheel sprays to make sure the breakdust falls off - still need to apply it - been lazy"

Some kind of Teflon spray?

I have always waxed my wheels to make them easier to clean, plus going for the simplest wheel spoke design possible, ie 5.

FYI check out Klassic paint prep/protection it is not a wax but a polymer base that makes any paint job look new and glisten like it is wet...you can see a perfect reflections in it.

I had a Chemistry Professor for a neighbor who turned me on to it.

Fabulous when you then put a good polish/wax over it.

I like OneStep from Target because it lasts six to eight months and Consumer Reports rated it the best.

I like good protection/looking low maintenance products.

cheers,

jj

enjoy your new ride,

jj

XJSS, got some photos of items I've done to my girl in my album. But how did you place them in the message? Using an Ipad 2.

Got them from TM Tuning | auto performance | tuning parts | oem | aftermarket parts they were 300 and required removal of shield under motor and both corner grills. Very scary, had to use wood chizel (very sharp and clean cutting tool) and a CRAP load of patients. They dim by 50% when marker and lights are on europe requirement. Wired them to fuse box with fuse and relay. Hoping to tie them into fog lights so 50% is defeated with activation for fog lights for rear.
