Default Part 1 of 3 MPG comparison.

OK,

Backdrop.

I'm relocating from North Chicago to Newport, RI for work.

Problem: Move 3 people, 3 cats and 3 Jaguars.

Stage 1.

I set off yesterday and drove 519 miles in the 2012 XJ, followed by 502 miles today. Avg speed 71mph, (that includes the hateful Chicago traffic), Avg mpg 28.9 (manually calculated at 28.77)....Yes, I drove towards a hurricane! The car is now stored in a friends garage. Oh, it never missed a beat on the trip and I felt great at the end of each leg.

I fly back tomorrow and collect the 575. It will be interesting to see the figures it puts out.

Stage 2.

575 time starts on Thursday, I have to be in RI to collect the air cargo cats from PVD on Saturday morning.

Stage 3.

F-Pace to PVD... TBD, but is suspect I'll need to fly back and do that also.

Point being; 28+mpg is stunning for such a big engine/car

Great mileage and you beat my best! On a 2500 mile run between Oregon and Texas with a 78 mph avg. I got 27.6 mpg according to the trip computer and I did not bother checking it by hand. 2014 XJR and still amazed at the gas mileage even in town. I did not expect that and it's way better than my old 2005 S Type R.

575.
1023 miles @ 72.5 mph, @ 26.4 mpg

F-Pace 35t comp....Forget it , my wife drove it!!

So, which one would I choose to drive 1000 miles? Well both! If I'm honest, the 2012 5,0 N/A was relaxing, the 575 entertained in a different way. What truly struck me was how archaic the 2012's Nav system is, and when you plant the 575 overtaking is just so, so easy.
