Hi sender no trouble here to help if I can , I also had a 60 reg diesel x351 , every month or so I would get an amber warning light , remedy was to take it for a very spirited drive down the motorway, cleared in ten mins usually , if it goes to red , Halfords used to offer a service , they would spray some chemical into the DPF then the customer had to take car for a spirited run , in the hope of clearing , you can also purchase a diagnostic tool and it monitor s the soot level in the PDF and forces a regen . Yes good luck hope you get this solved , only other jag Indy I know is EE in Mk

thanks for the reply. My issue is not DPF. I get restricted performance when I put the car under strain, despite spending a small fortune with a local garage to fix this (see my original thread at the top). I have actually had the DPF come up previously, but as you say, give the car a blast for 20 mins and it clears it out.

Sendel: For code P006A there have reported also leaking/cracked intercoolers. However: That should give you permanet code. Since you don´t have issue all the time, i bet my money on sticking solenoid valve.
I have been used Lucas Oil Fuel treatment "Upper cylinder head lubricant" for diesel systems, since it dosent include solvents. Solvents what are enemy of high pressure diesel fuel injectors.
It is good to use sometimes some injector cleaner addective. I use twice of the year.

many thanks. Today I added some “extreme” injected cleaner from euro car parts, but I’m more convinced that it is the boost valve that George mentioned and (unless I misunderstand) you are suggesting too? George05 kindly added a link to one on eBay, but I’ve tried to find the part number so I can find it elsewhere, but with no luck so far. Thanks again

Sendel: You mixed the sender of messages. The stuck boost valve was my suggest, not George05:s.
The reason i suggest it is that i fixed one XF 3.0D with same code about 6-7 month ago. On that case the valve stuck open during hard acceleration and when we took a long metal bar and tap it lightly from upwards it releases again and the boost was back. The owner of that XF bought 2nd hand complete valve assembly from wrecked vehicle where that solenoid are sitting. The complete valve assembly have to be changed from under the vehicle, but it might be possible to change the solenoid from top? The valve assembly are this part: Turbo Boost Control Diverter Valve
There was also another fail in that engine: The O-ring between front air inlet chamber and throtle body was partly escaped. (these two parts are hold together with metal `clip` (sorry my english are not perfect.. can´t recall the correct term for it) and one end of clip have been escaped or have not been positioned correctly earlier.
I seeked that same solenoid valve are available on autodoc.co.uk as well: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/pierburg/16598266
You can try your local Ford dealer with the original Ford part number: FoMoCo I-09I078 451 75 S01 5872.
I seeked the correct term for the solenoid from XJ Service and repair manual: Its "Secondary turbo recirculation valve" (you can check the operation of it from X351 Service and Repair manual section 303-04B (operation function explain starts from page 1249->) X351 Service and repair manual can be downloaded from Sticky section. (it is quite big, so be patient. It take some time before it will start loading after you click the link)

Vasara:

I massively appreciate the time taken for this detail and I could not ask for more!! Apologies for misquoting and yes indeed it was you that suggested the boost valve. For the small cost it is definitely worth a try to replace that, so I am going to order one and get a local garage to fit it. I will update the post with the outcome!

No worries. For me technical problems are like challenge puzzles to solve. Needles to say that all my relatives and friends bring me their PC:s, printers, cars, bikes etc to fix. (and i ofcource keep my own gear running)
I am also working in a high tech company as one of "master propellerhead".
Please report how was the outcome, even the fault might not be in that valve, then knowhow of possible fails and fixed expans.
