Default Pothole damage - need 2 new wheels

Damn Michigan roads.

Just got into a 2013 XJ in December after moving up from our XF 5.0 L supercharged and now have to change the right side wheels after my wife (can't blame the wife - can we!) hit a massive pothole trying to avoid another driver on the other side of the road who was also trying to swerve past a pothole on their side.

Dealer wants $1000/$1200 (F/R) for each !!! I know Jags are expensive cars to maintain but that's 3% of the price of a car for 2 wheels. With labour, alignment, front tire, etc the bill comes to $3,200 !!!!!!!!

They're 19" Aleutian wheels. Anyone know if we can get OEM wheels elsewhere? Not looking for aftermarket replicas but originals.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the rant.

Are the rims actually broken or only bent out of shape?

Members with other models have reported success with professional straightening. Here's video showing the process:

The wheel still needs surface refinishing at the end of this process but that's a regular technique with scratched alloys to bring them back to "as new".

I hope your are repairable. It's not just Jaguar - new alloys are expensive regardless of the vehicle.

Try Ebay in most cases you could find 4 for the price the dealer is asking. In addition your comprehensive coverage would most likely cover replacement of the wheels minus your deductible. Good luck!

Thanks Guys,

The wheels are actually bent and the delaer says the rear could possibly be repaired but the front definitely can't.

I can get the rear repaired after looking at the video GGG sent (thanks for that).
So that leaves the front. There are some single wheels on ebay but they're all refurbished wheels likely meaning they were bent or, worse, cracked and have been repaired.
I don't want my wife driving around on a previously cracked wheel so really only the option is to look for a new OEM front wheel.

Searchinga round on the net, I came across the following:
Anyone have any experience with either of these sellers?

2010-2013 Jaguar XJ 19" Front 59869 - All Factory Wheels

or

2013 JAGUAR XJ OEM Rims | A-59869U20

Id main dealer wheels are $$$, why are these OEM wheels so cheap when they're advertised as new?

I had this happen and the city covered the cost of the two tires.

That's a shocking price, look on Ebay UK and see whats available, even with shipping you could save a lot, a couple of years ago I got a set of four with tyres and just delivery mileage for a straight £1000, snapped them up straight away. Look here for an example
Set Of 4 Jaguar XJ351 19" Aleutian Alloy Wheels - Ideal For winter Tyres | eBay

these will ship worldwide as well
Genuine Jaguar XJ 351 19" Aleutian Alloy Wheel - 10J X 19" Aleutian Front Wheel | eBay

Default wheels

After owning a 2011 xj and needing 3 tires and 3 rims replaced put the tire warranty on new vehicle. You can put on warranty after you fix wheels. If you lie in metropolitan area like I do you gotta have the warranty.

Just curious... is your XJ running on 20" wheels? 3 replacement seems highly excessive even for 20s. My XJL is on 19" and no issues after 14K miles despite running ultra low (21-22 psi) tire pressures to improve the ride.

19's, I live in NYC. The center of the world...for potholes. That was over a 3 year period by the way.

You might try making a claim with the city that it occurred in.

I just blew a tire on a pot hole last Thursday and I filed a claim with the city. My expectation is that they will cover some or all of my repair expenses.

I suggest taking pics of said potholes and include them with your claim. Might make things easier for you to have evidence.

Nope - they're 19s. Just shows how bad the potholes are here. I'm gonna try and make a claim with the city. I'll get some pictures and file a police report and see where that gets me.

Meanwhile, I've taken the wheel to an independent wheel repair shop and they confirmed that the front is shot.

I'm looking around for a new/used (not refurbished) front now.

I'm no lawyer, but believe the city is responsible to either maintain roads properly, or closing them to public travel, and can be sued in a small claims court if they don't do either and it causes damage to your vehicle. Photograph the offending pot hole(s) and the consequent damage to your vehicle, and file a police report.

I took out wheel insurance on my car. When I saw that it excluded wheel breakage, I was told "Jaguar wheels don't break." I responded "So if a wheel breaks, that's a warranty claim then?" The dealer smiled the smile of a person who had been caught out.

I think that the price you've been quoted is an outrage. Speak to Jaguar about it, see what kind of a deal you can do.

I finally managed to find someone locally who had a used front for sale (used - not refurbished) and have had that changed so at least the car's back on the road. I'm going to get the rear repaired since it's doable.

I've also contacted the road commission and started the process for a claim - let's see where I get!

Ouch. I know what you mean about the Michigan roads. Been through two tires and an alignment this year too. First tire was on a dealer loaner when I had my XF in for maintenance, and the second with the alignment was on my car. Good ol' Michigan roads...

Supposedly the road commission is trying to get out of any claims by saying they're not responsible unless the pothole was an issue that had been reported at least 30 days earlier and they were negligent in repairing it......nice.

With JF discount our price on these is $734.00 each for the fronts and $779.00 each for the rears. Please let me know if you need any further info or would like to order.
