Vanden Plas originally was a coach builder. It was a trim level. In the 80s and 90s,
a Vanden Plas had the little wood picnic tables on the back of the front seats, and the grill and trunk finisher had a pretty fluted design. I'm not sure what it signifies today.

Vanden Plas is a trim level, like SE and SEL that is so popular now. It was the highest one on many British cars for a long time. Many BL cars had a Vanden Plas version - like the much ridiculed Allegro Vanden Plas. Also Princess, Rover SD1, Range Rover, and so on.

Long ago the car might actually have been modified by the Vanden Plas company, but not on those BL cars including Jaguar - it's just a badge.

Also, thread titles should tell you what the content is. Please avoid cute ones like "The question is..." and so on.
