Default Rear Axle shafts.

I need help identifying rear axle shafts on fist gen x351s, On my 2013 5.0 SC. It appears that the RH all interchange with several applications, but I am having a hard time understanding the LH side. Issue in 2013 jaguar had a change over and likely a design change in the differential, the electric actuator shows two options. The longer input stub is applicable to the 2010-2012 the 5.0l SC differentials, but here is also another part number starting in 2013.

C2D42132 2013+
C2Z4813 2012-2012

XF, XJ and XK seems to Interchange.

Another note is that albeit mine is an 2013 I have accordion boots on the wheel hub side. Which confuses me even further as there was probably a campaign to replace with a more compact non louvers boot.

I don’t know wether to order a 2012 SC Or a 2013 as I could have either. But given that I have the accordion outer boot I am thinking I have the 2012 SC axle?

My vin ends in V39977

Parts listing says
  • SKU:C2D42132
  • Positions:Left
  • Other Names:Cv Axle Assembly, Halfshaft
  • Description:XJ series. F-Type. XF. Rwd. Awd. Left. From vin k22184. 5.0L supercharged. From vin r41866, with 5.0l supercharger.
  • Replaces:C2D27608

...........................................
  • SKU:C2Z4813
  • Positions:Left
  • Other Names:Cv Axle Assembly, Halfshaft
  • Description:XJ series. F-Type. XKR. XF. Left. To vin k22184. 2010-15, 5.0 with supercharger. From vin r41866, with 5.0l supercharger.

    Both have the same description?

Why not call a reputable dealers parts department with a part and price request.

They won’t give you part numbers, just price and availability, vin specific. Trying to solve the puzzle with information available to a regular Joe. Also trying to find used, not new as i it would be crazy to spend 1,300 in axles when they go for $100 from the wreckers. I think Ill go with a 2013+ LH and hoping for the best. XJ have vins with a V and those vin cutoffs are for XF or possible XK or Ftypes. I found a 2014 5.0l SC in MN going to give those axles a shot. I hope they have the updated outer boot, I have no idea why the accordion outer boots are on my car. But both sides failed so JAg must have known about it to change the design.

I think the problem is the factory listing does not show the VIN break point for the XJ. They only list the F-Type and the XF VIN's.
But from what the dealer parts list show I only see the C2D42132 version as listed for your car?

Rear Axles

If you use that web site you can enter your VIN to double check the fitment.

My manufacturing date is 8/12. I will shoot for the C2D42132 and hope it fits. That part seems to replace another part number, maybe the problematic accordion ones?

I agree with you, what is confusing is that I have the accordion versions and is scaring me that I might have 2012 parts. But the gamble to the later shafts might be a safer bet according to the parts catalogue and the fact that 13s have the 8speed, so maybe that’s a breakpoint worth noting.

Yes I see what you are talking about. There is a different part number for the 2012 version but as you said you do have the 8 speed ZF transmission right?
Build date is pretty early to so maybe your right about them using 2012 parts?

I would for sure match the old one unless someone can tell if they interchange or not?
In my link you can contact the parts people with your VIN they usually only take a day or so to get back with you.
Pretty cheap insurance.

Closing the loop on my thread. Jaguar corporate had to help the parts guy identify it.

Although I didn’t order but gave him business with other parts. 2013+ shaft is what it calls for.

C2D42130 & C2D42132

Now to find some used replacements.
