Any help on what is the best extended warranty company for my 2012 XJ Portfolio?

The warranty runs out on my 2011 this Fall, and I too look forward to Forum members recommendations on extended coverage. I've got 40,200 miles on my XJL.

 

I too would very much like to know about extended warranty options. My engine blew at 35,000 miles on my 2011 XJL naturally aspirated v8 (not SC) so I'm only keep this car if I can get a warranty.

I have read on this forum that the extended warranty of 6yr/100k starts starts in the day the car was FIRST put into service. In my case that's 2011.

And then I have also read that this same extended warranty starts on the day the warranty was purchased. Thereby extended your warranty another / additional 6 years but with a total mileage cap of 100k on the clock.

So the two are in conflict with each other unless both are offered?

Does anyone know first hand the real deal here?

 

The extended warranty being offered at Jaguar Dealerships currently starts the day you buy so a 6 year 100k would end in 2021, but you need to shop it as there is a good markup on it and the dealer can charge from cost about 3k to msrp of 5k to the best of my knowledge.

 

On the S-Type I oncehad, the dealer got me "Easy Care" Gold series after market extended warranty. The one time I needed it with the dealer, all went very smooth, the service dept. took care of everything. I did have a $100 deductible though. As I recall, the total cost was ~$1,800. of which I paid the deductible.

 

I asked about your mileage because there were 7300 miles (as of today 8310 on the clock) on my XJL when I purchased it this past November. It's a Florida automobile and it was trailered to PA. I got it inspected and the first service was performed by the Jag dealer in Harrisburg, PA. While at the dealership I briefly spoke to the extended warranty person who recommended getting an extended warranty before 12,000 miles or the price would go up. Before 12,000 miles, I seem to recall the warranty person mentioning $2400 cost for me; the price would go up after 12,000 miles but we did not discuss what the additional amount would be.
I don't yet have an extended warranty but before the end of this month I will be visiting my dealer in Harrisburg (75 minute drive) and will take some time to again talk to the extended warranty person. Like everyone else I too am shopping for an extended warranty so I'm very interested in the comments on this forum and the experience other XJ owners are having.

My Jaguar cpo 6 year/100,000 mile warranty starts the first time the car was registered. Per Jaguar, coverage begins on vehicles original in-service date with zero miles. I purchased the car in 2014, so I only have 2 years left.

I am doing some additional research but thought I'd share this initial information with forum members/guests

 

I would suggest talking to your Jaguar service advisor and ask for suggestions. They would probably know which aftermarket warranties are easiest to get claim work done.

 

Does anyone have any tips or easy way to replace the chrome trim around the grill or how to fix 2 small pits in the chrome surround ?
