Resetting "Service Required" indicator?

Correct. Right now about the cheapest way to reset it on the XJ is the Autel HT-200 scanner.
They are well under $50 on Ebay and you get one enhanced vehicle pack with the initial purchase.
I downloaded the Jaguar enhanced package and can confirm it will reset the service message on my 2014 XJR.
Too cheap to not have one!

I tried this on my 2011 XJ the other day. I just changed oil and filters myself since it was telling me "Service Required In XXXX Miles". After the change, it's still showing service required and the XF reset sequence didn't do anything other than reset my trip. Any other suggestions? Or do I have to take it into the dealer and have them reset it for me? Seems like most of the discussions about resetting it are from 4 years ago... maybe there's a way to do it yourself now?

After having done a Major+Premium service through Halfords, they failed to reset the “service required” message. Though Halfords advertises a Jaguar service with OE and trained technicians and warranty , after the service all they tried was the manual reset by : Open bonnet, open door, switch in ‘on’ (engine not running), then apply brake and accelerator pedals together for 10 seconds. This procedure gives the ‘service counter reset’ message but it really does not put values in ‘next service due’ screen. And at the next engine start, “service required” message appears.
The fix is by plugging in a dedicated diagnostics computer, and it takes only about 15 minutes, but a FULL SERVICE RESET, needs to be done, where all service details are fed into the car. Then the ‘next service ‘ is set to 365 days and 16K miles. This service with correct hardware and software is available at https://airbagman.co.uk/ : - The service that I received from Airbagman was very professional.

There is no instructions in the manual for the XJ. Never was.
So I don't why a Jaguar dealer would even try it?
We had Brutal a top notch factory Jaguar tech post years ago that there is no way to reset the service required light like you can on lower level Jaguars.
You must use an external device and you don't need the Jaguar SDD but that is one way to do it. We have found several after market scanners that can do this too.
Note the Autel HT-200 I posted above and there are others. Much cheaper than using the dealer too!
