Thermo,

I'm sorry I just got to see your message now. I cleared all the codes and so far either the check engine light or the "Restricted performance" light did not come up yet. However I would go ahead with your recommendation on getting the battery load tested tomorrow. I can come down tomorrow (July 27th if you are free). Send me a PM with your address and I will show up at the time you want me to.

Thanks,
Subbu

Thermo,

I got the battery inspected at a local AutoZone and they tested the battery with engine off (89% good) and then with engine on and it passed all the tests. Not sure if this is what battery load test meant. However I purchased the Throttle body cleaner and am planning to clean it up later today. Would you suggest wiping down the codes before doing it or wait for the check engine light to come up before cleaning the throttle body?

Thanks,
Subbu

nsubbu, I would say to clean the throttlebody and before you start the car, connect up your code reader and clear the codes. That way, when you start the car and if you get codes, you will know that they are something new. Having the battery at 89%, that should be good. But, you are probably looking in a year or so needing to replace the battery. This will be evident from getting random codes.

I cleaned up the throttle and started the car without clearing the codes (My bad as I was out working on the car while you sent me a message). I would reset the codes now and go from there and keep you posted on anything coming up again.

Default Did you ever fix your restricted performance Light? I just had that light pop up...

Additionally, they did an inspection and told me to replace the "Fron Control Arm Bushings".

Does anyone have experience with either of these two repairs. I have attached the quote sheet in the event anyone wants to price compare or know what these things might cost.

Best!
I just had my 2006 xj8 do the same thing
