Angry Restrictive Performance (HELP) - XJL SuperCharged

Aaaaagh! I just bought a 2011 XJL SC and not even ten miles in yellow check engine light blinking and "restrictive performance" appears. Essentially the car feels like "limp" mode. No power, smells like gasoline and engine is knocking. White smoke coming out of exhaust as well. What a start to owning a Jaguar. Anybody have any ideas to what may be going on? Anybody had similar issues and know how and what can be done to prevent this? If this is a chronic and recurring problem then we the buyers/owners need to know about it and Jaguar needs to be held responsible for this. I will update this post once I get the car back from the dealer. Thanks.

I've deleted your duplicate post - it can get very confusing to have two identical threads running.
It sounds as if you've got a head gasket gone.
Can you read the fault codes?

Thanks for the info. No I cannot read the codes, I don't have a code reader. I am still waiting to hear back from the dealer.

I have heard of this before on the XJs. The computer might just need a reflash.

Useally a dead coil and or stuck open injector. Happens to any manufacturer and car. Theyre parts and fail just coincidentaly after you picked up the car otherwise im sure they would have fixed it first. Unless you didnt buy it at a jaguar dealer and from someone that didnt know how to repair it

Update: Per the dealer it was a problem with the fuel injectors. Apparently they were either not opening or closing on time. He lost me at "it may have been the computer..." I was convinced this was a gasket problem but they did not mention it. Could a blocked fuel injector cause white smoke and carbonaceous deposits on the garage floor? Will take a black light to make sure there is not coolant. Will update once I have final diagnosis. Thanks for every ones input.

Yes it can be white smoke as it comes out as fuel vapor unburned. It smells like gas when it does it

This happened to me last week. When I took it in, they said it was the camshaft alignment sensor, but they could not get it to repeat after they cleared the code. I just left with the code cleared. They offered to keep the car and give me a loaner. I declined. If it happens again, they will change the sensor.

Fuel injector problem apparently. Dealer was not very clear about it. Not a gasket problem from what they said. Jag is back!
