Roof panel

What is the tinted perspex panel behind the opening roof controls? It's about 71/2 inches x 3 inches and appears to have no obvious function.

Feeling, that would most likely be the IR screen for the IR headset option you have in your car. If your car is optioned for the headsets, you should see a matching one near the rear of the car.
