(Rumoured) New XJ shape by 2017/18 codenamed X360
Some older articles below, but thought this might interest current X351 owners:
"the next XJ -- which could arrive as late as 2018"
The Cars (and Men) That Can Revive Jaguar and Land Rover
"2018: New XJ Sometimes you have to go out there to come back, and that’s what Jaguar will do with the next XJ (codenamed X360)."
Jaguar's next five cars in five years (2014) CAR scoop | Secret New Cars | Car Magazine Online
"What does the future hold for the big Jag? I'm hearing that after a facelift next year, production of this one will continue at Castle Bromwich until the arrival of X360, the replacement, in late 2017."
PRODUCT EYE: 2014 Jaguar XJ L - no melting moments
"XJ The marque's strategy for the future XJ (X360) is quite interesting. If all goes according to plan, we may see up to three different XJ models when the current car is replaced in 2017"
Deep Dive: Jaguar's Future Model Lineup
"Not much else is known about the next XJ, though Jaguar has previewed a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that is expected to feature in the car. A lightweight aluminum chassis will remain, and combined with the hybrid system could see the new luxury sedan return a fuel economy in excess of 70 mpg."
Next-Gen Jaguar XJ To Feature Two Distinct Body Styles: Report
On a side note, one fact I love about the current shape XJ is that its been around since 2009, yet the shape has not changed much at all, the shape is beautiful, from the looks of it its not going to change much next year either, which means if you have a X351, we're all almost guaranteed to have the current and new shape till atleast 2017, maybe 2018. For me this adds value to this car, more so than the latest Mercs and BMWs that change shape every other year and you feel conned by having paid so much only to have an old shape.

The next XJ will probably look more or less like the current XJ. When you consider the last model X350, Jaguar kept the same basic design for 40+ years all the way back to the XJ6 Series 1, with each successive model redesign looking bigger and fatter but keeping the same basic look (long in the front / long in the back, 4 round headlights, etc.) At this rate, we shall not see a completely new, 'revolutionary' XJ until maybe 2050. So don't hold your breath.

Same here, I keep getting asked if its a brand new 2014 model (asked last year) and most check it out on UK sales sites like autotrader and think its worth £50k+ teehee

Interesting. However I would think that greenhouse windshield (windscreen) would bake the occupants. The "chopped" top look, first introduced on the the Chrysler 300 a number of years ago, and since copied by the current Chevrolet Camaro, may look gangster cool, but restricts the view out of the car, and makes the interior "claustrophobic". Of course the extra large wheels with rubber band (elastics) thick sidewalls also look cool, as long as you don't mind replacing/straightening your damaged wheels and tires yearly due to our less than perfect roads, and putting-up with a jarring ride totally inappropriate for a luxury sedan.

Just to wet some peoples lips as they worry about the V8 option, a birdie told me while I was in London for the Feel XE event that Jaguar is looking at releasing the XJ with the supercharged V8 and an AWD system together. While the motor is doing to be slightly detuned (supposedly running at 468 hp), the options of what they can do with the XJ are not being limited. Not sure exactly when this is going to be released, but be on the lookout for it.

This is exactly what I am talking about, a derivative design based on the XJ351 (rectangular grill, fastback shape, narrow 'cat eye' headlamps, etc) that will be repeated over different model lines and refreshes/redesigns until we get a completely new, never-before-seen shape around 2050.
At least in the old days the models were few and each had a unique look (S-Type, XJ, XK). Today, by using the same 'brand identity' language across all models (XJ, XF, XE, F-Type, F-Pace), Jaguar risks diluting its DNA pool and becoming less special.

Interesting, but not for me. Too many air ducts, although I recognize this is a current styling trend, like black wheels and Christmas tree lights. To each his/her own. To me the current XJ reeks class. This one doesn't.

Completely agree with you, Wolfy. I am not so fond of this "brand identity" direction that Jag is following, much akin to BMW. I sometimes find it hard to distinguish between a 5 and 7 series, and sometimes between the XF and XJ, unless you see the entire length of the car or the rear. Geez!

What's not apparent is that the XJ interior is way better.
The new 'refreshed' XJ fascia has a sterile, robotic look like the new Range Rover Sport. Definitely 'refreshing' though not very attractive to my eye.
