Screen saver function?

Screen saver function?
I put a white XJL under the tree for my wife this Christmas (key fobe in a gift bag). I almost had to call EMS when she saw the key fobe. I thought she was going to have a heart attack! Yes, she was very happy!
While attempting to navigate through all the bells and whistles on the display screen I came across the screen saver option. When or where is this option applied? The owner's manual gives no clue, only how to choose one. I've tried different graphics and have turned the power off and on, but no results. I had the software updated. I've had no side effects yet. Anyone have a clue what the screen saver is for?

It's for the nav screen only. The other options are awful, so keep the leaper. The British Flag and Bowers & Wilkens savers lack color and resolution. The screen saver applies when you turn off the screen. You can also set it to come on at a certain time interval of inactivity. That is, I believe, on the bottom left side of the menu screen.

No problem. It's pretty useless. I asked the guy at Jag North America to look into adjusting the feature set of the screensaver. I wanted to be able to use that function to change the graphic on the nav, speedo, and rear entertainment at start-up, and I also wanted to be able to set the rear entertainment screens to display the screen saver while driving. There is so much more functionality they could and will build into these cars, but as we all know by now...this is Beta version. The good news is that most of it will get fixed with software updates.

I got the screen saver to work as instructed. It seemed so simple. A simple line of guidance in the owner's manual would have avoided this inquiry. I prefer not to have the "home page" displayed. It's a distraction. I mute the screen in my Lexus for the same reason. My truck's display is acceptable... it's a personal screen saver picture.
I noticed that next to the iPod connection were USB connections. It would nice to be able to download my own choice of screensaver via the USB. I have this option in my '08 truck. It's all software... maybe one day.

I just downloaded the Jaguar Nav Unit simulator...got an email with it today. It's an interactive guide you can play with on your computer to see how the nav command unit works. Some of the features don't match my SS, but they have a screen saver called "Jaguar Blade" which looks pretty sick...I like it! It's not on my car though, so I'm not sure if that's a new software update since two weeks ago. Anyone have the Blade available on their screensaver??
