I am getting the 15k service message soon coming up on the dash. I had the oil changed early at around 13k miles. The schedule says oil and check cabin filters and check brakes, etc. Do I need to have this done (I don't "need" it as I do it myself) to get Jag to turn off the dunning message?

JagGate, must you go to Jaguar to get the message turned off? No. If you look on e-bay, there are readers out there that will turn of the message. But, you cannot get away with the cheapy $20 units. You will end up getting around a $100 unit that specifically says that it turns off the service message. The other option is to spend some more and get your own copy of the IDS/SDD software. While it is more money, you do get more options as this is capable of essentially dealership level looking into the computers and will even allow you to reprogram computer modules and lots of other "dealership only" things. Granted, that ability is also double edged in that if you do the wrong thing, you can really make things run amiss.

I got stuck on what Mangoose/mongoose clone cable to use? Some work some don't. Cost is varying to?
I have SDD-V130 ready to install on a virtual win7 machine that will have no connection to the internet. I was told to use 130 if you want to program any modules while NOT connected to the internet. But I don't know if it will cover everything I need for my 2014 XJR?
Read the threads about it but no real solutions?
Any suggestions?

Yes That does seem to be a good app but I hope to find out if it can reset the service indicator because the dedicated reset tool that Brutal mentioned is over $100!
Which would not be too bad if it could do a bunch more stuff but again the clone Mongoose/Mangoose cable is under that cost and can do so much more?

I ended up purchasing the iCarsoft LR II- LandRover/Jaguar OBD-II Scanner Tool from Amazon to reset my service light. I acquired the Jag used and wanted to get the oil changed asap, so I took to my normal mechanic who did not have the tool to reset it. So at 48K miles, I reset the service required indicator with the tool. It came back on about 52K miles, so I just reset it again with the tool and no problems since. I think the second time it came on was time based as others have mentioned. The iCar tool is useful for reading other codes that may have occurred and in my searching, some of the faults could just be routine triggers that don't add up to anything of substance.

In order to clear the service message on your dash you need some sort of diagnostic software tool. There’s some aftermarket ones that will work. There’s also the latest version SDD, which is what Jaguar dealers use. If you only want to clear the service message, just get a proven aftermarket one, as SDD is a pain in the a$$ to setup. I use SDD V152, that I found online for free, with a cloned mongoose cable and it works like a charm. But it was brutal to install and setup. Or lastly, you can take it your dealer to have them clear it.
On another note, when it comes to servicing the XJ by oil change, you can easily do that yourself. Here’s a videos that will show you how simple it is.
It takes 10 minutes and you don’t even need to jack your car up. I have a 2013 XJ and I change my own oil. I purchased a fluid evacuator, the MITYVAC - MV7201, it cost me about $80. It has multiple uses, so it can be used for more than oil changes.
Also, I purchased the oil filter, oil filter cap wrench, and oil. If you unscrew your oil cap, and there’s a nozzle specifically used to remove engine oil. You connect the nozzle from the MITYVAC to it, and pump the oil out. Add the recommended oil, change oil filter and done. The oil filter is underneath the plastic engine cover. It’s literally a 10 minute job. No need to wait on a dealer, adjust your schedule or pay their prices.
Hope this helps someone.
