Service Icon Reset

Service Icon Reset
Yes! I know, I know, I know. There is no way you can reset the service req'd Icon without a Scan-tool or SDD device...but!!
It appears there is a method on the E/ F-Pace and F-Type that *might* read across to the XJ. At least one'14 XJ owner said this worked on his car. I have my doubts.
Anyway, it goes like this:
1. Open bonnet/hood. Leave it open.
2. Press the start button, foot off the brake.
3. Open the drivers door and press the brake and accelerator pedals fully down for at least 10 seconds.
4. The car will go through various captions including "Service Interval Resetting".
5. Turn car off and restart.
As I said, I have my doubts, and I haven't tried it.
Thoughts anyone?

DON'T DO IT!
Those instructions - 2 and 3 - are ambiguous. And appear to be pretty stupid and dangerous.
If you keep the START button depressed while simultaneously pressing the brake and accelerator pedals fully down for 10 seconds, the engine could start and overrev and cause catastrophic damage.
Beware of advice you get on the internet.
