Service at reputable local Indy
My 2015 5.0 XJL needs 20k mile service (aka oil change/ fluid top off). Local jag dealer won’t have appointment available for another 2.5 weeks. I use a very reputable Indy for my Porsche Carrera 4s and Benz S550
the shop’s advisor insists that servicing the Jag through them would not affect warranty. I just wanted to get other forum members opinions/ experiences for services at local indies vs dealership thanks in advance

Generally the answer for the kind of indy mentioned is - sadly - no.

socialjaguarfan,
Because you're in the USA, under Federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), it's illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs performed by someone else. https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/article...ne-maintenance
As others above mentioned, you must retain proof that the service met the manufacturer's requirements, including the proper specifications for motor oil and other parts. Sure, using an indy will cost less, but because they work on other makes they don't have the specialized knowledge and experience that your Jaguar dealer's techs have.
Because the motor oil is critical in 5.0L engines, I prefer having oil changes done by my dealer. Plus, they always do a complete inspection for other possible maintenance or repairs. My dealer found my water pump was leaking during my 30K service and replaced it under warranty. You stated: "My 2015 5.0 XJL needs 20k mile service (aka oil change/ fluid top off). Local jag dealer won’t have appointment available for another 2.5 weeks." I suggest you ask your dealer's service advisor if waiting will adversely affect your warranty, and if he or she says "No", schedule that appointment by email and include a statement confirming what your service advisor said. It's your car, your money, and your choice.

It will be ok legally but there is almost no chance they will have the oil stocked. Make sure they get it and you see it before they install it. And as others have said they will not do anything BUT the oil change and basic checks.
FYI: They really cannot change the oil for less than $150. That is $120 for parts and $30 for labor.

I understand that the recommended Castrol oil for 5.0L Jaguar engines contains a special, signature fluorescent color dye to confirm that it was, in fact, used in an engine in the event of a warranty claim for a catastrophic engine failure. No other oil manufacturers use that same dye.
Sure, you can argue that under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act other "comparable" motor oils should be acceptable, but how much would that litigation cost you and what's the likelihood of winning? I'd rather not go down that road. Dealer oil changes for me. It's not worth saving a few bucks at an indy.
