Service required message

Service required message
When I start my car (33,000 miles), the message center briefly flashes "Service Required". The message goes away by itself, and when I go to the service menu, there are no warnings. Also, there are no amber lights on the dash.
I'd suspect it was telling me that the 30k service is needed, except there is no "service interval indicator" message.
Is this a normal part of the start cycle, or is there any way to see what the service required message is referring to?

James, a lot of our cars have this "message". Jaguar has put into the car a timer that has a 1 year interval. It is simply reminding you that you need to do the annual maintenance. Most just live with the message.
If you are truely "worried" about the message, if you look on a place like E-bay, they sell readers that you can plug it into the OBD port of your car and it will cause that message to go away for another year. They run about $100. This would be an example of one: New JLR Da Dongle Software V138 J2534 JLR SAE J2534 Pass thru Interface | eBay. Not sure if all of them do it, but I know this one does.
