Last week our 2014 XJL V8 supercharged started showing the amber light for Intelligent Stop/Start. Today Stop/Start quit working entirely and when I
push the button on the dash board I get the message "Stop/Start fault." The XJL has 60,000 miles on it. Can a dealer repair stop/start very easily?
I enjoy the feature when driving in city traffic and numerous stop lights. Gwynne's 2010 red XF and my 2014 caviar XJL
Thank you very much Cambo. I talked to our best Jaguar Land Rover in our area in Madison, Wisconsin.
They said replacing the battery would cost $590.00 ( L 458.96) including labor and taxes. That equals 196 gallons of gas.
Does the auxiliary battery run other functions as well?
The auxiliary battery is only required for the stop-start functionality.
I don't know what the availability in the USA is like, but in the UK and Australia we can buy aftermarket batteries from Exide and other brands as a direct replacement for the OEM battery (which is actually made by Exide).
I just bought one for a customers XF, cost $140 AUD delivered (like under $100 USD).
Try searching for the p/n CX23-10C655-AC or Exide EK151

Other US forum members on other sub-forums here have tried to source the Exide EK151 but with no luck, absolutely no-one in the US sells it or a "plug and play" equivalent, and IIRC you can't import one from the UK or elsewhere due to "hazardous liquid" regs. It looks like if you want to replace the stop-start / secondary battery in the US you have no choice but to be royally bent over by your friendly JLR dealership! And yes, the OEM stop/start battery is simply a relabelled EK151.
Hello Cambo,
Thank you so very much. I was able to do a Google Search for the auxiliary battery under CX23-10C655-AC or Exide EK151 as you said, and found the exact match at Spareto. It is $101.08 (without value added tax), and $46.26 for DSL shipping, total $147.34. It will be delivered three days from now, on Friday, November 15th. Hope that it is just a simple matter of replacing the battery, and won't require a lot of reprogramming. Again, much better so far than $590. Thanks most sincerely for your expert advice.
Glad to hear you found one!
If you can post back if it works. No programming needed.
I don't know what the problem is but it's on EBay and shipped from Lativa to the US
for $121 plus shipping? Seller has no shipping cost so maybe too expensive?
Worth contacting him to find out.
Here is another one from Estonia? They say it ships to the US but again I would ask before ordering.
It's about $90 USD plus shipping. Small Battery

Hey James - I am also in Illinois, Chicago to be exact and I just had the auxiliary battery replaced for $290.00 USD + labor. Not sure how much of the labor went into this step, as I got other things replaced but to give you an idea of the pricing. I would expect no more than 30 minutes of labor, as I think it's rather easy to get in there and swap it in / out.
My 2014 XJR has had a dead aux. battery since I bought it. And I'm in no rush to replace. In my opinion, for an R model, the ECO function works best when it's broke. :-)
Ach, I just got word that my order from Spareto has been cancelled. They wrote that a battery is considered dangerous and that
it can not be shipped air freight. Hmm, I am wondering about hiring an oil tanker. Might be cheaper.

Ah that's a shame. Please keep us updated - i am curious to know the end result / price.
Sounds reasonable. Are you able to put the name of the place where you had it done into this forum? We are west and north of Rockford some thirty miles.
Some Chicagoans transverse our county, Stephenson, on their way to Galena, in Jo Davis, the last county in the n.w. corner. Gwynne grew up on the
north side, and later Glenview. Dyed in the wool Cub and Bears fan.

I don't believe it's a problem if I post the name of the mechanic's shop on here but if it is, apologies ahead of time admin. I am not trying to sway anyone one way or the other.
The gentleman that owns the shop and took care of me, his name is Jerry and the name of the shop is All Tech Auto - in Chicago on Kedzie Ave. I just picked up the car today. They also replaced my water pump and all the hoses attached. He literally pulled out a box with all my faulty parts and showed me exactly where each item had backfired, cracked, leaked, etc. He seemed straight-forward and honest but I admit, I am leery of any and all mechanics so use them at your own risk.
Couple links here for you to see their reviews. You can always tell him the guy with the white Jaguar recommended you, maybe I get lucky and get a discount on my next service. If not that's fine too.

Nightshadow,
Thank you very much for your extensive reply. As of now, the have sent my wife an email in German, saying that with a new safety document they will now be able to ship the
battery by air. Whenever it arrives,we believe that our local Butitima Brothers tire place will be able to install the auxiliary battery. Will find out!
As a tech i say be glad its dead, and no it does not take long to change but longer than the main. It has to be tested. Not just the battery but the start stop system and charging as half the time it is morethan just the aux battery that is dead. Gwm software outdated, 1 or both of the battery contacters in the module under the battery and sometime a dual battery module needs to be replaced. All this to save a little gas? Thats like spending a $100 to save $10. So no its not just replace the battery and anyone that just does that does not know the system and the issues that come from disfunction. Usually the dead battery is a symptom of another issue. Just keep this in mind. I myself have gotten burned just testing and replacing the aux battery instead of doing full diagnosis.
