Any ideas for where to stash sunglasses that work particularly well for the XJ ?

I put mine inside the driver's door. I have the case that they came in. They fit in there really nice and don't move around all that much. Easy to grab.

I put mine on my nose.
Very positive for the look in my opinion and on top of that they filter quite conveniently the sun light.
