Default System updates for extra features

It would be nice to see a list of users updates or requests to gain new or extra features from the car.

For example, it it possible to have the sunroof close automatically when it detects rains ( i had this option on my VW CC and if i left the sunroof open and went inside, if it rained it would close automatically)

It would be nice to have a list of hacks such as global close to include sunroof closing etc ....

Add to the thread if you know of any , thanks.

unfortunately you cant really add any new features to the car that dont already exist in some-way-shape-or form. for example, the auto close sunroof you speak of, is not something jaguar has ever offered, meaning there's no such code that exists that would check for rain and automatically close the sunroof...nor is it something that can be added unfortunately.

there is one "hack" i recently learned about...however its physical hardware you need to install into the car...that would allow you to auto close the trunk from the interior button and remote fob

the things you CAN do through software, is enabling/activating features via SDD (which is jaguars software). this would include something like enabling heated seats if your car originally didnt come with it, and you manually added seats that have the functionality. the key word here is enabling/activating....because you cant activate features that dont exist (i.e., massage seat function on seats that dont have the massage mechanism)

That is how the front park assist sensors worked in the X350's, the predecessor to the X351. The X351's are a step backwards. On the X350's, there was a switch to disable Park Assist until next power cycle if you found it annoying. All I can imagine is that Jag received too many complaints of false beeps from the front sensors, from trucks with air brakes or heavy snow storms, and figured it would somehow be better to force the driver to enable them on when they think they need the front assist. Having owned an 2004 XJ from new where the front park assist is automatically on at lower forward speeds, I can say that I far prefer the occasional false beep with having it on all the time to that of forgetting to turn it on when it could have warned me of something in front of me. It should just be on.

Thank you rhankey and I agree 100%!
What a stupid step backwards for Jaguar. My previous S Type and ALL my other cars have enabled the front park sensors as soon as the car is started. Already scraped the front air dam because at first I did not realize you had to switch them on.

Doe we know if we can retrofit High Beam Assist if you add the camera behind the centre mirror area, i have seen the camera units available but not sure what else will be required.

Thanks

Default Road Sign Recognition

if we fit the front facing camera , do you know if road sign recognition can also be enabled as well as the high beam assist, if so this would be a cheap mod and a gain of two features?

On any 2016MY cars onwards it is possible to enable the automatic PDC at low speeds again, and it becomes a configurable option on the touch screen that you can turn on or off at will.
It needs enabling in the CCF: MultiCAN 469, bits 0-2 (PARAM_MCAN_PDC_AUTO_ACTIVATE) set to 02 hex (010 binary).

Default Add Sunroof to global open/ global close

Is there any way the sunroof can be added to participate on the global open and global close function of the windows via the remote?

Its a shame you have to turn on ignition to close the sunroof if left open.

can the sunroof be slide opened fully from a single press of the button, i.e a long press or something , it seems silly to have to open tilt and then slide open , having to press it twice.

Also if you forget to close the sunroof and have switched off ignition, you have to switch the ignition back on to close, can it not be programmed to close with global open or global close or even better a configurable option to autoclose when ignition is turned off ?

For disable this feature, you need to modify CCF value to 0x01. I think that your Jag's default value is 0x03.

Default Why Taken Away?

I’ve owned six Jaguar now. The ‘95, ‘97 & ‘09 ALL had global closing/locking INCLUDING THE SUNROOF! Makes NO SENSE why the X351 XJ’s NO LONGER have it!

@mc690 , My XJL(X351) includes the SUNROOF in "GLOBAL CLOSING". I use it often.

1. turn off the engine
2. get out
3. press the close button on the remote control for 3 seconds
4. yes, operate.

I was able to find this function setting in CCF(with/without sunroof). Of course my Jag is a basic feature. Maybe... looks like localization option for safety..?

I would be interested too. I added global close via the RF remote with a CCF edit but the sunroof does not close.

I will test to be absolutely sure . . . on the key fob, long press the unlock button (all doors unlock all windows and sunroof open). From memory, the doors fire first, then the windows and the sunroof last so keep pressing down the unlock button.

Long press of the lock button does the opposite. YMMV

That’s exactly how i do it, however sunroof does not open or close as part of that global opening or global closing process.

It's not a hack it's an added feature using an aftermarket control box. The car does not know it's even there. No programming or complicated BS.
We have a long thread on this and many of your questions can be answered much quicker if you do some searches of the forum??
