Tailgate party pooper XJ
Hello...
Is there any way to keep the radio on longer while the engine is off....like a normal car? If I just press the radio power when the key is in range it stays on for about 10min. If the ignition is on position II it is even shorter. Any CCF setting for the timer?
My battery is in good shape.
Thanks for your help

TJ, how much current do you think your XJ pulls just sitting there? I have seen video evidence that just opening up the doors and getting the car to that point puts a 12.5 amp draw on the battery (this assumes all the interior stuff is off). You now turn on the radio, the draw goes up. You actually turn on the car to the standby mode and the draw gets even higher. I was really surprised. If you need me to give you measurements for the various conditions, I have the equipment to do that. This is why the car has such a short time frame with having the car powered up iwht the engine off.

Thanks Thermo. I am sure there is excessive draw to power up all the electronics at the slightest hint someone needs to use the car. The CAN bus, amp, infotainment computer, and any switched power buss to power them. It's a shame the simple use case of 'listening to the radio with the car off' was neglected. As a EE myself I know it could be done, but it costs more money to isolate the power for this. Measuring the battery before shutdown would be better execution. Oh well, I'll use the 99 XK8 for tailgate activities.
