They’ve moved the Goal Posts
With 93,000 on the clock my forward plan for my 2011 Portfolio was to consider changing it this year or next for a newer model before the very expensive major service at 112,000 where the belts are changed.
My car went in this week for its annual service and MOT.
Jaguar have altered now altered the service plan to the seventh service/ 90,000 miles. Ouch!
New rear pads, front suspension wish bones and drive belts plus, I couldn’t find the wheel lock socket so a new set of locking wheel nut are required.
I fear this is going to be big big bucks.

The brakes and belts are a pretty easy DIY job.
Any chance you can do them? Would save a good bit of money.
I throw away ALL locking lug nuts! They are a problem waiting to happen as you found out. Loosing them is very common too.
Are the wish bones leaking? Why do they need replacement?

Well, the car failed it’s MOT. Number plate bulb blown, rear pads and too much play in the front suspension wish-bones. They managed to remove the wheels with their master set of lock sockets and will change the pads on Monday, The belts have been changed but the suspension struts were seized and had to be cut off completely. Fingers crossed that every thing will be ready on Monday.
In the meantime they’ve given me an e-Pace loaner to use, 250 miles on the clock and this is the first SUV I’ve driven, what a revelation. Tonight, I’m going to put some juice in it and take it for a spin (hopefully not literally)

I’ve enjoyed trying out the E-Pace for the last four days.
It ‘twas a lively little number, I liked the lane control feature and unfortunately wasn’t able to try out the self parking; I didn’t have the confidence or courage to try it in a loaner. The ride was a bit bumpy and rough and noisy like a van but after an XJ that was to be expected from a baby Jag. It just made me appreciate my XJ even more as I drove it home.
As expected this episode as been big bucks Ł2880.00 to be precise: rear suspension arms, brake pads, major belts replacement: engine timing and fuel pump, MOT, 7th service and new replacement locking wheel nut kit.
Its good to have the girl home agin.
