Thinking of buying a 2019 xjl supercharged 5.0 OPINIONS!!
As the title states I’m looking at a 2019 xjl that’s supercharged with a 5.0 and has 7,500miles. How reliable are they any major issues or problems with these cars? I need a big sedan for clients. But I do want something this is somewhat reliable.
Thanks
richard.

Keep on top of the water pump, you should have years of great driving experiences. You drive the car with a failed water pump and it is going to be a very expensive bill.
On a side note, because you are looking at the XJL and are planning on having clients in the back, You may want to take some time and do some looking to find one with the airline trays in the back. It will be one of those features that will help put the wow into the car and be something that most other cars are not going to offer.

1. Don't buy the car unless you live within comfortable driving distance to a JLR dealership. This car is now and will remain under factory warranty and service for the next several years.
2. If this car is being offered for sale at a JLR dealership, the service department has the ability to pull and print a "fact sheet" pertaining to this car. It will list all of the build particulars, and all service or recall items performed at any JLR dealership. It looks like this:
If the car is offered for sale by an independent dealer or private seller, take the VIN number to your nearest JLR dealership, and ask them to pull a similar sheet for your car. This will also give you the opportunity to talk with a service advisor and evaluate their willingness to work with you and your new car. The advisor should comment on any unusual actions on the report, as well as informing you of the remaining warranty/service limits and their general service policy. A good advisor will give you their business card with their direct phone number and brag about their experience with Jaguar.
3. If everything looks good up to this point, consider a Pre-Purchase inspection from an independent source. These usually cost $100-200, and are worth the money.

Thermo highlighted the one most prominent and notorious failure prone item, the water pump. Failure occurs on the average i'd say between 35 and 50 thousand miles based on reading the threads. There are exceptions. If you buy one of these beautiful beasts, pay attention to the water pump weep hole, coolant level, and the temperature gauge as you get into that mileage range. If and when the coolant smell is prominent, get to the dealer and tell them you smell coolant. Hopefully, this will occur before the warrantee runs out. Most of us love these beauties and are sorry they will become extinct in the near future.

I just purchased a 2017 XJ L S/C with 22k on the clock. Absolutely a joy to drive and look at. It's amazing what Ian Callum did to make the LWB look so good. The slope of the roof line is accentuated and it's hard to believe the rear door is longer than the front! If you can find a 2019 with a V-8 and low miles, that is a rare beast. Go for it!

Having been on a casual hunt for several months, I'd strongly advise against buying one from a used car lot. Reason: Private sellers have had a vested interest in the car during their ownership and are more likely to have spent money on repairs as they come up. Used car lots? They buy 'em at auctions, spray some of that oily crap on the tires and engine cover, hide mechanical and cosmetic defects as best they can, and throw it out there for 6K over book. I'm well aware that you can spend a couple hundred on having a JLR dealer do a pre-purchase inspection in those cases, but even if defects do come up, the used car lot won't budge on the price because they know that if you won't buy it, there's a sucker born every five seconds. ESPECIALLY if they advertise in house financing options.
