Howdy!
Prior to simply buying a Jaguar CPO '17 XF, I considered a '12 XJ 5.0.
Absolutely loved the engine but with 65k miles all repairs would be on me.
When getting Quotes from Apex & Endurance, et al, the reviews from their customers scared me off.
Almost anything that failed was deemed a pre-existing condition" and simply not covered. WTH?
Ended up with a gently used black Jag that is still under the factory 5year and am additional 2 from CPO.
Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

Here's the advice of consumer advocate Clark Howard:

"Never buy an extended auto warranty from a third party. Stick to the manufacturer’s own warranty only."

The bottom line is that buying an extended service contract is a gamble. If buying one helps you sleep better at night, there's a price for that. Even if you get lucky like Randy Mounts, that's part of the equation. Remember that the House always wins, although they do allow an occasional player to win to keep all the other marks in the game.

Stuart's reply is pretty sound. I had one through TWS. It paid for essentially new suspension components and alignments over the course of the last year, as well as motor mounts. Parts and labor easily paid out more than I paid for it. They cover broken bushings and Jaguar's only instructions are to replace rather than repair. I took a calculated bet knowing that this was formerly a dry heat car that was fairly well taken care of.
I had 1 year left on the contract and just cancelled it for a prorated refund as I do not anticipate being able to use it on anything else minor. So, if I calculate it I'd estimate I'm $2-3k above board. It stipulates major issues that would result in total loss aren't paid out, so I feel I'm in the clear at this point.
