Default Tire size for 22 inch wheels on '14 XJR LWB

For anyone running 22s, what tire size do you run?

I have have a 2014 XJR with 22s and am having a front end wobble issue at 40-45 mph. I have had the wheels inspected and balanced so I know they are not bent.

Researching it further I found out the the tires I have at 245/30R22 95w xl and appear to be either stretched to far for the 9" wheels (meaning they are too narrow) or the tires are overloaded for the weight of the car.

From what I am reading the factory tires on 20 inch wheels were 265/35R20 99Y XL, but I can only find 22" tires in a 95w rating.

I am seeing some slight bowing issues on the inner side wall of the tires which is what I suspect is the cause of the wobble.

thanks

Surprised that you would have enough room left for a tire at all, after you stuff a 22" wheel on there. The stock sizes are low-profile enough for me.

Good luck with this issue, anxious to see what responses are.

According to the self proclaimed experts at discount tire they recommend a 255/30R22 and say it will fit without issue which is almost 3" of tire.

Am I the only one rolling 22s? No way! I don't believe it!
Ordered some NITTO NT555 Extremes so we will see in a few days if that solves the issue.

I'll bet there are fewer on 22" than you can count on one hand. As for my I love my OEM Matavia wheels

Maybe consider getting a stock set of 20" rims?
A lot of stuff on EBay.

i know its not the same, but hopefully it helps. I have 21x9 in the front and 21x10.5 in the rear, with 255s in the front. if you have 245s all around that seems WAY too narrow, even more narrow than stock.

I honestly dont see an issue with you going to at least 265 in the rear. I am at 275 on an F-Type wheel, so the offset sticks out farther, and i have no issues. If youre offset is closer to stock than mine, 22s shouldnt be an issue. There are other guys with them on here, just not frequent posters

Got the new tires put on and they fixed my wheel wobble issue and look so much better too. No rubbing issues whatsoever, in fact there is more clearance then I thought there would be.

Those look pretty good, and not as big as I was expecting 22s to look. Fitment looks just right, nice job!

I have 24’s on my XJ. 295/25/24 in the rear and 255/25/24 in the front no rubbing what so ever. Only modification I did was shave the excess thread off the control arm bolt above the tire on the front.

I'm rolling on 22s. The recommendation above is correct. That's what size I have on my XJL.

Weird that there arent any R22 tires that are the same weight rating as the factory R20s.

I won’t BS and say it’s been all good I been thru 4 wheels and 4 tires from potholes. I wouldn’t do it again, I’d get some 22’s. 25 series tires in Houston isn’t a good look. I drive it like a madman lol so that doesn’t help. Custom wheels take a few weeks to build and most tire shops won’t touch a 24. I keep telling myself “it costs to be the boss” just to make make self feel better!
