Default TPMS question

today the wife was driving and the TPMS light came on saying pressure was low in one of the tires. she cleared it out and when she stopped and looked at the tires they all seemed fine. now it displays a message that service is required...has anyone experienced this problem?

I think you are mixing the messages the car is trying to convey. TPMS saying a tire is low is self explanatory. It should also highlight which tire. If a TPMS fault existed it would say "Tire Pressure Monitor Fault".

The "SERVICE REQUIRED" message tells you it is time for the next recommended maintenance, oil change and the like. This reminder must be reset with the diagnostic equipment to turn it off. Then it starts counting for the next one.

Cheers,

i also agree with xjrguy. If you have a problem with a tire pressure sensor it will say a fault. if you pressure is below 28 psi i think it will show a low tire message.

the service required message - is time for your 15 k or 1 year maintenance.

"she stopped and looked at the tires they all seemed fine"
the tires may look fine even if they are just a little low from temperate changes.
