Trunk open/close options

Trunk open/close options
Hallo you all,
this could be a stupid question but I have this issue...
I can open the rear trunk in three ways:
1) With key button
2) With rear bumper button
3) With internal button
I can close it in one way only:
1) The button on the trunk door.
The problem is that when someone ask me to put something in the trunk I can open it sit in my seat, but often the person doesn't know how to close it and should be very useful to be able to close it from inside.
There is any option to close the trunk from another button that isn?t the trunk door one?
In my audi A6 I can open and close from internal button....
Thnaks for help.

On Mercedes you can close it using all three. No danger of hurting anybody because when the door sees resistance when closing, it stops or opens up full. There's no good reason for the Jag to not close using all three options, none at all.
I've a '17 XJL and frankly don't remember ever trying to close it other than with the button on the lid. When I'm not so lazy as I am now, I'll give it a try with the key fob.

This would require rewiring to enable remote closing, not just a software update?

All, looking at the diagrams for the car, making this an option shouldn't be all that difficult. Granted, to access stuff may take a little bit. In short, what you are going to end up doing is running a wire from the dash to the trunk lid computer in the boot. If you look at the computer for the trunk lid and locate pin 23, you should see a black wire there. What you are going to end up doing is adding a second wire to this pin (or upstream on the wiring) and run this wire to the dash or other location where you want the close button. From there, you can attach this wire to a momentary pushbutton. You will then need to take a second wire and run it from the other pin of the pushbutton to chassis ground. This way, every time you depress the button, you will make up the switch and apply a ground to the turnk lid computer, making it think you pressed the button on the trunk lid. That is it. Unfortunately, to make the trunk close via the keyfob would require some significant reprogramming from what I am seeing.
If you are curious where this module is located, looking at the diagrams for the car, if you remove the spare tire and then lean into the trunk and look pretty much behind where the license plate would be, you should see the module there.
