Default What did you do to your X351 today?

A lot of the other model sections have a thread like this where you can post whatever work, mod, etc, you did to your car recently. Stuff that doesn't need its own thread. I started the X350 thread, so I'll start this one as well.

I'll get the ball rolling with a bit of maintenance I did recently. I changed my diff oil using Royal Purple 75w90 Gear Oil. It took about a bottle and half.

I have no idea if the gunk I drained was original or not, but man...it was like globs of black goo at 88k miles.

The X351 section can be pretty slow compared to the rest of the forum.

Tonight I'll be installing my new black pack grilles that I picked up from Mina Gallery this morning.

Since she's up and running again, I've added some DEI reflect-a-gold tape around the Mina intake tubing. I didn't do a very good job keeping away the wrinkles but i can actually touch it without leaving a patch of skin. Will probably do the airboxes too.

I've often considered that mod but never got round to it. The Mina tube definitely gets hot.

Unfortunately I am unable to provide before/after IAT figures. Since the airboxes get hot too I'll wrap those tonight if there's time and post the bling.

Next thing you know:

Don't get me wrong, I actually think that looks really clean; just not my cup of tea.

I completed the second oil change under my ownership this weekend at around 91k miles. During my inspection, I noticed that my front banana control arm bushings seem be on their way out. A transmission fluid change & pan/filter replacement is still next on the maintenance list though.

I took my XJ down to BBS in Georgia to have some wheels test fitted, since they were meant for the F-type. The rears are pretty damn close, but they fit just perfectly. I am pretty excited to get them from my shop soon!

I replaced my front pads/rotors/sensor this weekend. I ended up snapping one of the caliper bracket bolts (I'm just too darn strong!), so I had to take a trip over to Galpin Jaguar for a replacement. I paired black Eline drilled rotors from R1 Concepts with OEM style Pagid pads (no ceramics for me). So far so good...no clunks, rattles, groans, or squeals. I've gone ahead and ordered another set of the same rotors and pads for the rears. Total cost for rotors/pads/sensors is just under $500. No too bad at all. After that's done I'll get a full fluid flush.

Side note: my calipers are in desperate need of paint touchup. Thankfully, you can't really notice their condition unless you're up close and personal with them.

I checked my oil level this morning and was instructed to add half a quart. So I did.

Also, I finally got my rear rotors from R1 Concepts, so hopefully I'll be installing those tonight, if its not too hot.

I installed the rears last night. The pads were extremely low...a piece of the sensor was actually broken off. It all went pretty much according to plan.

However, since Monday, I've noticed a very slight creep groan from the fronts. It could be an issue with the new brakes or it could be my banana wishbone arms are giving up...I'd noticed the big hydrabushes were ripped on my last inspection.

Fixed my A/C issue, thanks to the folks who posted in those threads. Under $40 and even with my (questionable) DIY skills, it was a piece of cake.

Turns out, for now, it just needed a coolant recharge. Initially it looked like it may be a more serious issue, as nothing at all was coming out of the driver's side vents, and the passenger side vents were blowing warm/hot air. Someone (probably me) monkeyed around with the climate controls and had them turned off on the driver's side (D'oh!) so once that was deduced, I figured the recharge was the next logical step. Now to see how long it holds. Hopefully there is no leak somewhere in the system.

Bought it, lovely 2011 5.0 example, moved out of my Audi S8 into this, absolutely loving the individuality and style this things ooses, heading to obsession?
I’ve got a couple of classic E38s and this reminds me of them more with its styling and classic lines.

I poured a can of BG44k in my gas tank to keep the cat purring nicely. Oil change coming up soon.
