No, I plan to paint it to match the color of my car. Here’s another photo from a UK member who helped them with development. You can see the weave when you zoom in.

Wow. That bonnet is very cool. I wish they had better pictures of it, though.

Got some stuff for recently bought XJ from car dealer (with broken engine). Could not leave car to die on their hands. So got rebuild kit, including crankshaft, pumps, coolers, rods, etc. Just part of it in pictures. Hope for test start next weekend.

Your automotive skills are exceeded only by your bravery!

Be sure to start a new thread to chronicle your adventures into rebuilding your XJ. I'm sure I'll enjoy reading your story as much as I've enjoyed Ranchero 50's saga of his Green Turtle, a 2007 XKR.

Today I installed a tool called MKDS so It's possible to close the boot lid from inside my car and from the remote fob. Works really good!
I would recomment to anyone who would like the same feature. Easy 10 min installation. Found it on ebay!

Yes we have had quite a long thread on this some time back and the original guy from the UK (I think Jez??) ended up dying and others started selling them.
Remote Trunk Closer

As was posted in the linked thread we pretty much decided this should have come stock on a luxury car such as the XJ or really any Jaguar with a trunk.
Very handy.

My trunk lid closes fine until the last little bit and does quite latch
I have to give it a little push with my hand. Anybody have a remedy for that.

The trunk lid on the XJ can be set to a specified height? Maybe play with that a bit?
It's in your owners manual how to do it.
Open the trunk lid and pull the lid down to the level you want it set it at.
Then press and hold for 10 seconds the close button on the underside of the trunk lid. While keeping the trunk lid at the height you want to program it to.
Now the trunk lid will only open to the height you just set it at.

Other than that I have no suggestions?

Default Illuminated sills

I’d just look for illuminated sills or illuminated tread plates.

They also have two sets pre 2015 and post 2015. The pre 2015 are stainless steel vs aluminum and they have different scripts. The newer model parts are less expensive even from the dealer.

I always have a short list of stuff I watch for as part of my long range plans for the car. These were on it for over a year.

Back in June I managed to score a set of NOS illuminated sills still in boxes - for about $320 total. I was basically checking every day until they showed up. Odds are another set will surface. If you don't mind used ones you should just look for "sills" in general and check for the wires. Sometimes the sellers don't identify the illuminated parts. That is how I got my set of dash vents.

If another set does show up on eBay don't delay in nabbing them quick. They won't last long. I lost out on a few parts because I hesitated.

I have not yet installed these new sills. Waiting till I have everything else inside the car changed the way I want.

Speaking of sills, does anyone, by chance, need a set of non-illuminated sill plates for an XJ-L?

just to be clear the XJL actually does have longer rear sills/plates then XJ (SWB)? a lot of listings say they fit both XJ and XJL for some reason

The rear sill plates on the XJL are longer than the SWB model, fronts are identical....trust me, I own one of each.
