White smoke from engine
Hello,I am a proud owner of a '11 Xj 3.0 D from Romania.
I drove it 8k km since i bought it.
Replaced timing belt and accesories , and also topped up some antifreeze in the winter.
Today when i was driving home my engine started white smoking, clearly i can say those were water vapours.
Message in red appeared:Coolant level low.
I would like to know if this occured to anybody else and what is the main diagnosis.
Thank you,

More than likely your water pump has died. It's a common problem:

Was the white smoke coming from the engine compartment or the exhaust, or both? What is the outside temperature? Did you shut off the engine as soon as you saw the low coolant warning light?
If the white smoke was coming from the engine compartment, coolant is escaping, coming in contact with the hot exhaust manifold, and vaporizing; hence, the white smoke. The coolant loss can be from a variety of sources, including a bad water pump, coolant hose, and/or broken plastic radiator neck. If there is no white smoke coming from the engine compartment and it is only coming out of the tailpipe, the likely cause is a broken head gasket. That lets coolant flow into the cylinder and, when mixed with fuel and then detonated, results in white smoke from the water vapor.
Note that all internal combustion engines (diesel and gasoline) produced water as a by-product of combustion. That's why you see white exhaust smoke on very cold days. Just like exhaling and seeing your breath.
Hopefully, your engine wasn't damaged.

Hello Stuart ,thanks for your answer.
The truth is there is a plastic around the engine compartments that was delivering 3 HOSES.
I quite engaged sport mode and so on and the plastic got ripped off in 2 parts ,
My car is serviced A.T.M. and of course when i saw it i just went to the service who is 2 km away.
Thanks a lot, I will post a photo so you can see where it was.
