Default Worn Brake Pad

Why does the sensor remain on after changing the front brake pad. Does the sensor have to be replaced also?

When I changed my front pads I thought the sensor was ok as it looked fine, refitted the wheels and took it for a drive, warning light was still on so I phoned the dealer to see if there was anything electronic to reset, they said there wasn't so I bought a new sensor from Euro carparts, UK , it was Pagid brand and a lot cheaper than Jaguar, problem sorted !
