Default XJ Bumper Mod

Excuse my description here as I'm not sure what the part I'm looking to mod is called. Its sort of the bumper grill vents on the bottom left and right of the bumper. Notice this picture:

http://www.automotiveaddicts.com/wp-...r-xj-front.jpg

Now notice the difference with the vents at the bottom left and right of the bumper:

The last photo seems to have XJR style chrome vents. Does anyone know what this part or part number is called and if the standard XJ can be modded to have more fancier looking chrome vents?

I agree, the car in the second photo looks superior to that in the first. I look forward to enlightenment as to how to make the switch.

Default Another possibility...

Here's a $195 upgrade from Mina Gallery: Jaguar XJ Lower Corner Mesh Grille Upgrade - Mina Gallery Inc Mina's lower corner woven stainless steel mesh carries over the same bright mesh of the OEM grille. But, on closer examination, it appears that Mina's weave is a bit smaller - I'm not sure from their photos.

Just another possibility to consider.

Stuart

Thanks Stuart, I was more specifically looking for the chrome inner border rather than the mesh, though that does look pretty sweet too.

The chrome fender vent surrounds you and I like are standard equipment on the 2015 XJR models. I suspect they are interchangeable with the chrome bar that comes on the XJ and XJL models, but don't know that for a fact. The question is: how much do they cost?

Exactly my thoughts, there was a minor facelift for 2015, but I am hoping the size and dimensions of this side vent are the same and therefore should fit an older model.

If anyone with the 2015 model or otherwise that knows the part number please tell

According to the parts catalogue, the XJR lower grilles are in separate pieces

Left side
Chrome finish moulding C2D25658 (1)
Black mesh C2D25655 (2)
Blanking Panel C2D25656 (3)

Right side
Chrome finish moulding C2D25657
Black mesh C2D25653
Blanking panel C2D25654

There is also something called a Template Kit C2D27986 (5) not sure if you need that or not, probably because there is some cutting of the bumper?

EDIT

The Ultimate Edition inserts are the same part numbers as the XJR

There is also a "Front Bumper Aero Splitter VMAX" listed in there, which is a 3-piece front splitter / bumper extension, the central part is gloss black and the outer pieces are painted body colour, also from the XJR?

Thanks Cambo351! Time to google these parts, shame they are in 3 separate sections, I'll try to find out from my local dealer if they can just remove the chrome bit on mine and only replace the front chrome piece

Perhaps items 2, 3 &/or 4 are shared with XJ models, so one could re-use these parts. Just a thought.

I didn't end up getting it done, the parts are far too expensive for me for some basic moulded plastic

I hear you. My basic rules for modifications: (1) they should be tasteful and enhance the basic design, (2) they should not detract from reliability, and (3) they must be at least a reasonable value. Subjective criteria for sure, but I also say "no" when the costs outweigh the perceived benefits.

I have installed those chrome vents on my XJ. It was easy but not the price for it.

Looks awesome. Nice job! Was it a DIY job? If so hard was it to complete?

You can get the parts on E-bay. To get what you need, just a mere $1700.

Yes. They are pretty expensive. I've paid something like that.

Just for giggles, I looked up a "local" dealership that I have used before and you can get the parts through them for around $1500 plus some S&H (would be around $50 for me as the dealership is 500 miles away). You can check out Jaguar Parts. They say that the list price for the parts is right around $2000 plus whatever the S&H would be.

Granted, there is also JPLV (aka, Gaudin Jaguar, a sponsor here) that can probably get you the parts for $1500 or so also. They are out in Las Vegas. It would possibly be worth a call to see what they can do for you. Might save you another $100 or so.
