Xj sc 2012?

I thought about getting a XJ SC eariler this year, but backed away in large part based on the problems discussed here. The 2012s are in Houston now. The salesman, who based on his prior representations has no credibility with me, asserts the roof problems have been remedied. Can anyone comment? Same salesman maintains that with 2011s on the lot, sticker is the price. Can anyone in or around Houston shed any light on what a reasonable price might be or be found? Lastly, none of the OME wheels work for me, assuming a XJ purchase with Black exterior, any suggestions for wheels? (I have seen the black wheels in an eariler post, those don't work for me either.)
Thank you for any help that can be offered.

I would hope that the 2012's have gotten the roof issue resolved. Jaguar has certainly sent out enough TSB's to the dealers to fix the 2011's. They got mine fixed.
I got $1,500 off MSRP when I bought my 2011 XJ SC in June, 2010--it was one of about 10 that were in the original stock order of and the first one delivered by the north store in Houston. They also took my '07 Maserati QP in as a trade and gave me a decent price for it. The biggest problem here is that all 3 Jaguar stores have the same ownership so you really can't price shop among them, but I found that they don't all quote the same. The south store would not come off MSRP even though I had bought 2 prior XJR's from them and the central store did not want to take my QP. That being said, I find it hard to believe that there is no discount available on a 2012, although it will probably be pretty small if there are a lot of leftover 2011's.
IMHO the OEM wheels on the SC are nice, so I haven't had the urge to change them out or seek out anything in the aftermarket.

I would walk away from that dealer if it were me. I bought my XJL SC in Nov 2010 and the dealer closest to me wanted MSRP also and would only knock $500 off after negotiation. I walked away and went straight to the next closest dealer and they took off $6000 right off the bat without any hassle. It probably helps that there are 12 jaguar dealers in the SoCal area so finding an alternate dealer is pretty easy.

I too was nearly scared away by the roof-popping complaints that seem to be legion on this board. I'm really, really glad I put them aside and took the plunge.
I bought a new SC XJL, got at least as good a discount as 'Another_Geek' above, and for what it's worth, after months and thousands of miles, no roof popping, no creaks, sqeaks, rattles, or any other noises that shouldn't be there. Just lots and lots of fun driving, an awesome sound system, lots of admiring stares, and a beautiful, beautiful car. I wasn't too crazy about the stock SC wheels at first, but they really looked great on the one I picked out.
Good luck on your decision. Please update and let us know.
