XJ Service Light

XJ Service Light
The service light on my XJ usually comes on around October for my annual service as I do well less than 10000 miles a year.
If I was to take it earlier to get it serviced this year, say June and they switch off the light, will it still come on again regardless every October?
Does the XJ use some intelligent software to work out the condition of the engine oil and determine when its needs servicing or just do it 12 months from the last time the light was turned off?

Possibly, my assumption is every year in October, OR when I have driven X number of miles. Whichever comes first. However I'm just wondering if the XJ has more intelligent software to reset the date from the last time it was serviced.

As the annual service is every <nn>thousand miles, or 12 months, clearly it is possible if the electronic system is programmed properly, to flag up a service at 12 months if the mileage hasn't been done, however, I don't know if Jaguar has such a system. What does the Owner Manual say ?

I note your query and can confirm that at the time of the annual service being completed, the service indicator light will be reset by the servicing retailer. The service indicator light is designed to then come back on between 11 and 12 months afterwards to remind the driver that the service is due.
In your case, if you elect to have your vehicle serviced in June, the light will be reset and should come back on nearly 12 months from then as a reminder.
I trust I have been able to sufficiently answer your query, should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help.
