Hi to all. I have this big problem with my jaguar xj that is overheating to death with the ac on. I had to cut engine it overheated at the maximum. No leaking.
If there is no ac, i can drive, i hear the fan let it idle for 30 minutes and no problem.
Whenever i put ac on, there is no cold when in idle and the car is overheating. When i drive, the cold comes back etc etc
the dealer saw the car and said its the fan. But the fan is running. I dint understand who is right.
Any clues?
Thanks to all
No but stop driving it until it’s fixed or you’ll blow the head gaskets and warp the heads. I suspect it is overheating to some extent all the time, even with a/c off, but the temp gauge for dummies is hiding it. It will read N until the engine is quite hot, then suddenly rise.
I had the issue of no cooling at idle and the dealer replaced a part on the compressor. Here is my invoice showing the kit part and Freon and also here is the tsp/repair for the issue. As for overheating I'd check the thermostat.
Hi
thanks for your answers
i replaced the coolant today. The coolant color was green then i flushed it with water, it was red and then it was clear. It took me 3 hours of cleaning and 2 hours of driving in traffic, out of traffic and the car did not heat at all.
The last matter now is that on idle there is no more cold. I hear the clic each 1 to 2 minutes and no cold but when the car is on the road, i have the cold ac.
What do you think now?
I spent a day doing silly driving and no overheating and no cold ac at idle. When i was heading home last kilometer it overheated to the max again.
I cheked all fusebox and the tried to hear the fan,
i heard for 1 second then nothing for 15 minutes and car was at 90 all the time at idle with no cold.
Coud it be the fan ?
Change the thermostat because it sounds like its sticking. Your A/C issue sounds like its what was previously posted in the TSB. Take care of the thermostat and overheating issue first and then deal with the A/C. BTW...if you keep overheating like that you're going to blow the head gaskets and warp the heads.
I'm not driving it anymore. 3 times in full overheating is enough. I will replace on monday the fan and thermostat. For the thermostat do i have to change whole black housing or just the iner thermostat ?
Thanks
Yesterday we changed the fan, this one was running immediately when the ac went on, cold ac is back on idle and the temperature did not move from 90 degrees. Today we test it on the road. Cross fingers
Glad to hear you changed the coolant. By your description it was filled with the wrong coolant (green).
Your getting it fixed a step at a time!
Please post back with what you find.
