XJR
Hello Jaguar enthousiasts,
I am considering trading my 2013 Mercedes A250 AMG Sport for a Jaguar XJR. But I am hesitant because of the wildly different information spread throughout the internet.
I was led to this forum via Reddit and they said that this forum was the real deal to serious owners.
So I have the burning question..
Would you guys like to share the good and the bad considering the XJR?
Thanks in advance!

Well you came to the right place but your question is just too large to answer.
If you start reading you will see what the problems are
Now remember that the XJR is a very rare car so even here we don't have a lot of cars to report back on.
My 2014 XJR has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. I have had exactly one repair in 42K miles.
That was a water pump that was found when the dealer changed the oil.
But I am just one example so really can't judge a car on that. But I will say the water pump is probably the most common repair.
Now the biggest factor will be can you DIY anything? If depending on the dealer then it will cost you. I don't think that's any different from you Mercedes.
Just part of the luxury car game.
But I hope you do get one so we have another XJR on the forum!!

You want to put your question in the older XJ forum:https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/
This sub-forum is for the newest model 2010- present.
I think you want to look for ones where suspension has been maintained recently (air suspension) and the timing chain tensioners are the metal ones. But I’m sure that forum will have more info to share

Yes that is a very different car with a troublesome air suspension.
No tensioner problems because you will have the 4.2L V-8 and they were rock solid.
This forum has all the problems and their solutions figured out.
But the real problem is that any of those cars are now 10+ years old. They will all need repairs and maintenance.
Can you DIY the repairs?
The dealer is very expensive and the car is not worth much.
