Default 4L80 From Chevy Pickup Fit 95 XJR?

Hey guys, new to the forum here. Fixing up my old 95' XJR and looking at replacement transmissions. Mine came with the 4l80 and I have been looking at ordering one from these guys since they have the best deal as far as price/ shipping/ warranty/ etc, https://reman-transmission.com/trans...s/?code=4L80-E. Anyways, my problem is they only have 4l80s for Chevy trucks. Anyone know if they are interchangeable?

My vague understanding is that the Jaguar transmission case is different (bellhousing bolt pattern, IIRC) but the guts are stock GM.

My understanding is that the stock GM transmission uses an engine adapter plate to fit it to the Jaguar XJR (and XJ12) engine, along with a housing extension at the rear of the trans. A complete Jaguar in need of a transmission will have the adapters, mountings and electronic controls in place. With the swap of these parts, it should be easily done. But I don't have any first-hand knowledge of it. Somewhere there is a transmission shop that knows.

I have always wondered about the direction of rotation. Think about it. The Jaguar engine rotates in the opposite direction of GM engines. I assume this makes no difference to the same GM transmission?

the bellhousing is different it’s 6.0 v12 specific and uses an adapter plate for the aj16, wiring harness and pan are not the same either. the rolls royce v8 one is similar but uses buick nailhead “universal” bolt pattern if i remember right

jaguar 5.3 th400 cores used to be very desirable to rebuild worn out high mileage truck transmissions

Casing is specific to Jaguar. That being said, there really isn't a reason to not just have it rebuilt! Pretty much any transmission shop in the continental US can EASILY rebuild a 4L80E without much trouble or expense...
