Default Premium sound system speakers

I noticed one of my tweeters wasn't working on the drivers side pillar. On removal I see it measure open on the resistance meter. Blown, not too uncommon I think on these? I am searching for the correct replacement now which is LNA4145CA but looks like I might have to go with the standard sound system tweeter LNA4145AA which should just drop right in? I was checking the other tweeters which all seem to work except the two on the rear parcel shelf in both corners. On closer inspection I can see through the small speaker grills that there is no tweeter installed on either side. Is this factory? Maybe the premium system only had tweeters in the rear doors and not up on the rear shelf? Or did the previous owner for some reason remove these?

Also does anyone have a good replacement for the 6x9 rear subwoofer LNA4144AB? Looks like depth is gonna be an issue on this one due to the tank being right there. Mine doesn't sound so good when you turn up the bass.

Thanks!

The depth of the 6x9 isn't the primary issue, it's the fact that it has dual voice coils. I rescued mine by replacing the perished surround with a new foam one. There may be a MINI part that could work, but DVC 6x9s are thin on the ground.

ISTR reading that the tweeters in the defrost grilles are supplied but unconnected on premium sound equipped cars and that they will fit in the A pillar spots. Since all the tweeters in my car were toast, I just replaced the A pillar ones with some cheapo aftermarket piezo jobbies. Good enough for audiobooks.

The capacitor can be replaced in the tweeter

There is a meter capacitor test watching your resistance rise as the capacitor is charged by your meter

The capacitor will discharge at some point and cycle back up

See this venders YouTube video on speaker foam replacement kits they offer , I don't know the sub - woofer kit #

Scroll down the screen to see the parts

See also and scroll down , ovals are somewhere on their site

There are other companies as well

Here's that tweeter thread:

Re-tweeted

Some minor mods needed for the front tweeters replacement but the mounting is the same for all, a simple twist fit.

You could probably wire the dash tweeters to the A pillar wires without changing their location.

The older DBC10873 was replaced with the similar LNA4145AA tweeter.

I simply repair the Harmon Cardon dual coil woofer (like Parker 7)

Simply Speaker or Speaker Works offer replacement foam surround kits.

OK great guys thanks for the repair information for the Subwoofer. I will defiantly go that route. I think I might have found the factory correct speaker from a parts car will know for sure monday.

So about the two tweeters on the rear shelf under the back glass that have grills but no tweeters mounted under the small grills. Is this normal for a premium system car? I haven't gotten back there yet to see if there are even wires going to where the tweeters would mount but I suppose if there are I will go ahead and put something in there.

Yes it is normal, the tweeters are mounted on the door with the HK system.

So for anyone else that might have a noisy subwoofer, it turns out my speaker issue wasn't the foam surround. The speaker was in really good shape as you can see below. So I thought it must be busted internally at first, but after a bit of testing I noticed that while playing the plastic spacer on the top that holds the dust cover over the top of speaker, had come unglued and was vibrating. Pushing down on firmly on it solved the issue. So I re-glued the spacer and added oversized washers on the top to hold it down in position tightly. If I am ever back in there again i'll paint those washers black as you can see them through the grill a bit. But hey I'll take an easy fix like this anytime!

On a slightly related note, I was thrilled to see Jaguar still had stock of the optional rear sun shades for my interior color. They were a little over 100 bucks each but I couldn't resist. Take my money Jaguar!! Easy installation as the rear deck panel has predrilled holes already under the interior material. I'll post a few photos of them as well.
