X305 engine mounting bracket

X305 engine mounting bracket
My 1996 Jaguar/Daimler Double Six (X305) needs new hydraulic engine mounts (MMD7500AA) especially on the right side. I have learned that they are very expensive (6-700 Euro) if you can get hold of any at all!?!? I'm wondering if anyone has successfully tried to adapt an engine mount from an X308 or maybe something completely different so that it can be used on a V!"!?!? If anyone has a good idea I'd love to hear about it. . Thanks in advance!

I think you mean this thread, Scott:
Motor Mounts?
So far the evidence shows that there are two types of original motor mounts: the older hydraulic ones, which can be bought for large amounts of money, say $1000 USD. And the updated non-hydraulic mounts, which are as rare as... non-existent. Otherwise an ambitious person might be able to fabricate some with polyurethane. Results unknown. It would be best to leave the old ones alone if possible, as they might split and crumble if removed.

Polyurethane not a good idea

You have a very good idea in that it might be a good idea for x305 owners to approach SNG Barratt about a group buy or customer funded special project to find/develop replacements for these. Since all of us are going to need at least a pair at some point in time.

Oh yes I agree, polyurethane would be a bad idea. I should know. A local Jag shop (BA) stuck a poly bushing in my transmission mount to support it better. It caused a huge noise in the cabin. They returned the car to me claiming it wasn't their problem and it must have been like that before. Yea right.

Is SNG Barratt the ones to approach about this? If producing a reproduction, who or where can we obtain the specs or a sample part for getting momentum on this? Part numbers are the best start.

I've posted several threads about all the different mistakes British Auto made with my car during one visit. Including the transmission mount. I counted TEN mistakes. They simply botched everything they touched. At the time apparently they were employing minimally qualified techs and I suspect the owner did not know of half the shenanigans that were going on. And he was not particularly knowledgeable about the X305.
At any rate, they sent me home with my "fixed" Jaguar, claiming it needed new motor mounts.
So if you need a shop you could try Sports & Collector Car in Tempe http://www.sccarcenter.com/ or Dave's Import Service in central Phoenix Daves Import Service. I haven't been to them but saw here that they were good. Your experience may vary.
