Default $1000 2004 XJR Project here we go!!!

Thanks for the add !!!! Well i pulled the trigger on a 2004 XJR 144K Project. It currently has an issue with restricted performance mode. This happens only when you hard accelerate the rpms rev up it goes into this mode. Shut the car off for a while it then fault clears and is fine to drive normally. In addition it has a dent in the drivers rear quarter. Here are a few pics. Chime in with any advice.

Welcome aboard
Sounds like a good price for a new project.
I have an 04 XJ8, & an 07 VDP the same color, great cars.

I had the restricted performance thing and obd told me it was running lean.......I found the plastic hose on the top of the engine that goes from the round thing on the left had a big split in it, I also found my air box loose at the throttle body , as a matter of course I also changed the fuel filter. Autozone 12 bucks....Jaguar 60 bucks......and the air filter......with the filter out I also checked the box and made sure there were no holes and I put everything back together snugger than it all was....did about 100 miles today and no repeat........fingers crossed that another issue is off the list......only a few to go now....
I would also check for leaks around the super charger, There is a scarey thread on here about the valley hose that is under the super charger.

Nice car I may look for an xjr in the summer.......

What a great deal....I wish I could find one like that even if I kept it for spare parts

That's not a "dent", that's a gateway to another dimension....... But, nice buy, can't really go wrong with it for that money, even breaking it for spares should at the very least double your money.

The computer will help you greatly,in finding your used parts needed.
Ebay
Body parts in the right color are also there.

He has a point that ding is pretty nasty......depends what got damaged under the bodywork.....do you know how it was hit....?

I know who has parts on Long Island.....Aaron auto supply Corp....Medford ny....cash only......so getting something could take a while.

when I was there yesterday they were actually testing a part they were sending somewhere.

Guy specializes in Eurocars.........has some nice stuff as well......

These cars are built like tanks.
But out of of aluminum.
As long as it still handles normally, frame is not badly hurt.
Parts in white to match would be the best to find, hoping to avoid painting.
Looks like a fender, with the tail light, just might be the extent of things.
If so, your really going to be happy.

Well guys drove it home then around and about. Pickup a great tail light from local bone yard had a whole car. Stopped by my uncles shop to further check out the extent of the damage all looks good. nav/CD changer still works. Now while driving I did not push her hard 80 MPH smooth., but while sitting at a light felt a trans surge I wanted to pull the codes, but the Actron could not do it. Have access to a Bluepoint Scanner EECR3A. I will try it again. Have Cruise not Avail and yellow light.

Check your battery, no cruse on start up is often an indication of a bad battery.

Interesting to see that in the last pic the inside hood white body work is still straight.

Starting to look a lot better, you get that sorted and the old owner is gonna hate seeing you on the road.....
