Ok folks.. I'm determined to keep this thread alive!!! LOL.. Unfortunately, this evening being the coldest day of this year (yeah it's a joke) at a frigid 12 degrees; my lovely XJ8 decided it was time for the heater to start acting up again. This time I noticed the passenger side vents were going ice cold as well. If I rev her up a few times, heat comes back. Driving, it seems to stay pretty warm (but sometimes it goes cold while driving too). At idle it starts drifting back to ice cold again. Coolant is full, runs great. I'm leaning toward a faulty AUX coolant pump. Maybe the pump is getting weak. It does have 104K miles on it. Thoughts? If anyone else finds they need a new AUX water pump, I have found PartsGeek has brand new ones at a steal!!!

Well this may well be my last post on this forum. I have a guy on his way from Indianapolis wanting to trade me his 2009 Dodge Charger 3.5HO with 81K miles for the Jag. I'm about ready for a normal, American car. I love my Jag, and I will surely miss all of it's amazing features, and class; however I need a car that I can work on myself, and can afford shop repairs if I can't do the work myself. This is an amazing forum, and I appreciate all of the help. I'll update if the trade goes through.

 

Wanted to add a pic of my new 2009 Charger that I swapped for the 04 XJ8. These huge 24" rims are gone and I have stocks on it now. Great car with lifetime powertrain warranty. Only 81K miles.

Or you may remove the pump, take it apart and clean it / check the brushes for wear.

 

The guy that traded me his charger for my XJ8 called.. He got beaten up, and the car, title, bill of sale, and keys, all stolen within 2 hours of trading cars... Poor guy.
