Hi,
I have been driving my recently purchased 2005 XJ8 3.5LWB for a week now.
Everytime when the engine is started, a buzzer like noise sounds like for 15 odd secs and goes off. If it doesnt happen during start-up, it creeps up when the AC gets turned on.
Anyone has experienced this? No other symptoms, warning lights etc...just the irritating buzzer like prolonged sound which thankfully goes off after the 15odd seconds.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Rgds.

The sound could be your air compressor running-mine often runs for a short time after starting although I can only just hear it and I'm sure my passengers can't.
I am referring to the air suspension compressor which is located just in front of the front nearside wheel but inside the bumper.
The compressor is not normally visible but you could try listening in this area when an assistant starts the car.
If the compressor is noisy it may be that the piston seal is worn.

Checked with a mechanic elsewhere who says sound could be associated with the Actuator. The flap motor closing and opening to recirculate air may be deactivated and sound may go off. Trying that option next week.
