Nothing about an OEM battery is going to give any advantage over an aftermarket one. Two most important things, cold cranking amp rating should be > the OEM, and it should be vented to work with the OEM vent tubing. I put an Autozone's Duralast Gold in my xk8 a couple years ago, and it is doing very well.

Agree with H20boy. I got a new battery for my '06 PFL from one of the big name tire and battery centers. It was only $150. The guy told me it was also used in common Ford pick up trucks, so availability shouldn't be a problem. I changed mine myself.... 5 minute job in the trunk. After reconnecting my idle was kind of weird for a while (2 or 3 minutes) but I believe thats just something (throttle body) re-learning its position. I will say these cars seem to be very sensitive to voltage levels so knowing your battery is tip top is always a good thing. I had a lot of weird stuff happening when my battery started to go out, so I have marked my calendar 3 years from now and will change the battery again purely for preventive reasons.
