1999 Vanden Plas won't start
Hi Everyone,
This is my first post. I inherited a 1999 Vanden Plas. It won't start, the battery is strong and new, the engine cranks strong but will not actually start. Also there are no trouble lights it just cranks but wont start. Before that it would stall while driving on rare occasions, but putting it in park and restarting it would work, now nothing. Please help, I love the car and want to get it going for as little $ as possible.
Thanks,
Paul

You might get a better response in the X-308 section. That said, Do you hear the fuel pump running? I know of at least three instances (my old 99 X-308 included) that had a sudden onset of not starting that ended up being the fuel pump.
If that turns out to be the case, there are a couple of old threads in the X-308 forum that describe how to gain access by cutting out a section of the parcel shelf rather than dropping the fuel tank. When I replaced my fuel pump, I did so cutting the access hole in the parcel shelf
