2000 Jaguar XJ8 - Fuel Tank Resealing Questions
Hello everyone!
To start with, I am brand new to posting on forums so apologize if I am in the wrong place.
Long story short, I recently purchased a 2000 Jaguar XJ8 that, among other things, I was informed needed a new fuel pump. Having replaced fuel pumps before I thought, no problem…
When I first accessed the tank it felt wet underneath, so I decided to pull it all the way to inspect it. Having finally managed to separate the tank from the vehicle, it looks like there is a lot of rust on the inside. So I thought to myself, I’ll go ahead and clean and reseal it while I’m here.
Having gotten most of the components off the tank, I discovered something attached under the fuel filler pipe that feels a lot like plastic…
Question 1: what is this plastic thing called?
Question 2: how to I take it out and how do I put it back?
Question 3: my tank has two fuel lines coming out of the bottom, and the connections look different… is one of them broken? One has ‘arms’ inside and one does not. Ironically, the one without arms was the hardest to separate.
I have attach pictures to try and explain my trouble better.
Thank you in advance for your help!

This is the fuel line connections at the bottom of the tank. The left one has ‘arms’ and the right one does not. Is something wrong with one of these?

Hi Sky,
as your XJ is from 2000, you actually are in the wrong forum.
The correct one is this one:

Good luck and best regards,
