Dear friends. Need your help and advise.
If you had a chance to get a 2002 XJ-100 or a 2009 XJR portfolio.
Both are about the same quality, and the XJR P is about 2.5 times the price of the XJ-100. The XJ-100 has about 50K KM more, and the leather is a bit beat up, but engine and transmission and electronic are excellent.
The 2009 is still under warranty...
Which one would you pick.
I am look at having the car as a week-end and night drive, and really preserving one of the last of mohican. Or would you go for a best XJR you can find for about price between the two?
Your opinion will help me decide. Thank you. Ziad.
PS. correction one year of the xj-100 its a 2002 and not 2000

The XJ-100 (as you call it, I have never heard of that model name), is the last year of the old steel-shelled cars, and is a very good car. As it is much, much, cheaper than the 2009 XJR, and you only want a Jaguar for weekends and night drives, this could be your best introduction to Jaguar cars. On the other hand the 2009 XJR is a much better car, so you have a rather daunting choice. The basic mechanics and body engineering of the 2009 XJR was established in 2003, the year after the older car was made. No significant changes were made during the life of the car. Did you know the later car is built almost entirely of aluminium ?
If you have a local Jaguar independent shop near you, then the older car could suit as an independent will be more keen on keeping it well maintained than a Jaguar main agent, to whom is it just a rather old Jaguar that they don't really want in the workshop.

Not trying to be mean in any way but playing devils advocate. If you haven't made up your mind the XJR Portfolio is probably already sold. Those are rare and are collectors cars.
It took me a year just to find an available non portfolio XJR or STR that wasn't sold by the time I would arrive at the lot.
Best of luck! Hope you snag it up!
